We'll give a quick safety briefing, fit the PFDs (personal flotation devices), then head down to the river where the kayaks are ready. We give a demonstration of how to paddle a kayak (it's easy), explain the nature of the river (it's tidal so we choose which way to go depending on the tide) and then we help our guests onto the kayaks and begin the tour. We paddle very slowly so we can immerse ourselves in the place, looking for birds and watching for fish under the kayaks. We stop after an hour or so, have a stretch then indulge in coffee/tea/juice and muffins. Once refreshed, we get back on and head back home. By now our guests are completely at ease and drift off into their own world, enjoying being surrounded by nature. We send photographs of the tour to our guests afterwards. A unique nature experience.
I've been kayaking on the river on our property for 25 years. I gained qualifications as a flatwater kayak guide (together with my husband) and began our guided kayak tour business 4 years ago. We've since taken hundreds of people from all over the world and all ages on our small group tours of the river. We offer an amazing morning tea in a setting that wows our guests - on a sandy river bank, surrounded by tall trees and being watched by soaring sea eagles. We serve home-cooked muffins and great plunge coffee. Our guests see the Australian bush from a completely different perspective.
We offer a choice of home-cooked muffins or fresh seasonal fruits.
A choice between plunge coffee, tea (several types) or juice. Water is provided for all guests.
Our guests self-drive to our place at 1167 Princes Highway, Kiah NSW Australia which is our home. The tours begin from our property and we will slowly paddle either upstream or downstream for about 2.5km before taking our morning tea break and rest. We will then return to the starting point.
