As beautiful as Vienna is - after a while, you might get tired of visiting palaces and museums. This is the time to take a break of the city and explore with me the beauty of its surroundings. The famous Vienna Woods, vineyards as far as the eye can see, chains of gentle hills and stunning views over the city - all of that is not to be missed during your stay in Vienna! Being a native Viennese and knowing the Vienna Woods since my childhood, I have many stories to tell about this area. I will show you the nicest wine taverns and make you aware of hidden beauties. We will meet at 10.00 am (2.00 pm) at the last stop of tram line D Nussdorf Beethovengang. You can access the TRAM LINE number D directly from the city centre, eg. at State Opera/Karlsplatz. We start and end our tour right there. Hiking time is approx. 2,5-3 hours without breaks, depending on individual speed. Distance: 12 km. The walk leads us as well to famous Kahlenberg, with great views over the city. After the tour, I will give you recommendations for wine taverns and inns in the area in case you are hungry. Opening hours depend on season, weather, weekday and time of day.
I'm the founder of Das Leben spüren - Embrace Life, a company organizing guided hiking tours and excursions for travellers, expats and locals. Already before that, I was organizing similar trips on a voluntary basis for a global expat network. I am also a professional hiking guide. I love meeting people from all over the world as much as I love nature. Combining both and showing foreigners around my beautiful home country is what I enjoy most.
You will see Nussdorf, which is together with Neustift and Grinzing amongst the most well known wine growing villages of Vienna. We will hike up to Kahlenberg and enjoy great views over Vienna. As well, we will pass by (and/or stop) at one of the local wine taverns along the way, nestled right in the midst of the vineyards. Opening hours vary depending on season and daytime.
