You’ll jump right into the art world with private access to an active gallery and art studio in a vibrant Hispanic neighborhood. We’ll spend the first part of your experience creating your own abstract painting and sipping beverages while chatting about individually curated (and fun!) topics such as “Why Does a Gallery in Los Angeles have Gnome Dildo Wallpaper in the Bathrooms?” or “Duchamp and the Urinal: Is this Art?” (Yes, the gnome dildo wallpaper is a real thing.) We’ll crank the tunes to your choice of music while you paint, peruse the many pieces of art that adorn the walls and chat with me about life as an artist. Next, we’ll go to the beautiful garden space (weather permitting) and have a guided group critique of our new work: What was successful? What could I improve? Similar to college art classes, this will be a safe, respectful way to discuss and receive feedback—an invaluable tool for artists. When possible, I’ll invite regional artists to join us for a truly unique experience. Never painted? Not an artist? Don’t worry! I’ll use my many years of experience to help you get started, make artistic choices and feel confident exploring your creativity. See you soon!
I’m studio manager and gallerist for Tularosa House of Art, a multipurpose art space in the heart of upandcoming San Diego neighborhood Logan Heights. I’ve spent the past two years curating exhibitions in New York City. I’ve lived all over the world, but I’m back to San Diego and can’t wait to share my art expertise with fellow creatives and travelers. I have been working as a professional artist, musician and curator since 2007. Creativity is in my blood! I’d love for you to join me at Tularosa where we can explore what it means to be an abstract painter in 2019.
We’ll have some snacks in the garden after we finish painting and clean up. Do you have any restrictions or preferences?
Beverages will be provided. Please let me know if you have any special requests!
Transportation to the gallery is easy: It is a quick Uber ride from downtown, and the trolley stops just a block away.
I’ll have everything needed to enjoy this experience: paints, brushes, canvas. Please feel free to bring your own supplies.
This experience will give you special access to a private art studio and gallery that is not otherwise open to the public. This modern, industrial space, formerly the San Diego headquarters for the Black Panthers, feels like it’s right out of a big city. Both the gallery and lovely garden areas are filled with artworks by artists from around the United States. You’ll be able to get intimate with work that cannot be seen anywhere else!
最多可供8位年滿7歲的旅人參加。 Guests need no prior experience creating art but should wear clothing that they wouldn’t mind getting messy. A bathroom is available if guests would like to change before or after their experience.
