Upon arrival, you are welcomed with a tea while I give a small introduction to dot painting and explain the easy to learn technique. Originally dot painting is a technique the aboriginals used. Every tribe has his own style, colors and techniques. Also in the Netherlands we have a dot painting tradition. Since the beginning of the last century, people from the small village Staphorst were dot painting on traditional clothing. The colors showed in what stage of mourning they were. No experience or drawing ability is necessary for this workshop, everyone can do this! I will bring some examples and patterns for inspiration. You will get a porcelain plate and can choose from a wide range of colors of special porcelain paint. Throughout the entire workshop I will guide and support you to ensure your plate will turn out fabolous. The dotted plates are dry at the end of the workshop and ready to take home, but need baking after at least 24 hours in your own regular oven, for securing the paint.
Hi, I am Alice, a designer living in Amsterdam. I have studied graphic design in the Netherlands and work as a freelance designer, following my dream of being an independent creative. I love to draw, doodle, paint and create, but most of all, I love showing how anyone can be creative. That's why I give workshops. My workshop dot painting is fun, relaxing and made for anyone who wants to create a beautiful souvenir to take home and be proud of. We will dot a porcelain plate in Segugio, the charming Italian restaurant of my husband in the centre of Amsterdam.
Tea and real Italian coffee
Porcelain plate and material is included.
The workshop is in Segugio, a characteristic typical Amsterdam house in the Utrechtsestraat, close to Rembrandtplein, the Amstel and Carré. If you book a table for the night you'll get a free coffee after diner (when space available).
You don't need to bring anything.
The paint is waterbased and won't stain your clothes. The workshop is at the first floor with accessibility by a staircase. For larger groups with lunch/diner please check my website awolffmade.com
