This tour is about Scotland’s legal and political history. Much of the history centred around one small area of Edinburgh. Meeting in the Lawnmarket, the home of the Scottish High Court, Supreme Court and High Court of Justiciary and unknown to many the home of the original Scottish Parliament. The tour commences with a short stroll around the square exploring the significance of the many buildings. The surrounding monuments to Adam Smith, David Hume, Buccleugh and others and discussing their influence on modern philosophy and jurisprudence. A visit to one of the magnificent court buildings (mon to fri/sat). Leaving the square and walking to where Historic legal trials would invariably end and the site of Edinburgh’s numerous execution sites. Stories abound of riots, failed hangings attempted escapes. Finally ending at the graveyard where most accused ended or not. The tour times can be varied to suit. If tour times dont suit you, send me can enquiry. I can usually accomodate
