We will meet at the historic and beautiful "Gross Cloche"-Bell Tower Gate. (Corner of Rue Victor Hugo & Rue St James) From there we will wind through the vibrant historic streets of Bordeaux - discovering hidden squares and charming back streets. As we wander by the city's classic landmarks & hidden gems of bygone eras, I will share with you Bordeaux's rich and dynamic history, including how it evolved around the wine trade. The tour will zig-zag through the St. James quarter, Place du Palais, Place Saint Pierre, the keyside along the river, the Place du Parlement, Place de la Bourse and ending around the Place de la Comédie. As we wander through like a local, I will introduce you to our local special pastry, the canele for tasting and describe how it came to be. To finish our tour, we will visit a lovely local wine bar which serves only regional wines by the glass and rotates their offerings on a monthly basis. There, you can choose a glass of one of our local wines & we will speak more about the different wines of Bordeaux - red, white, sweet, dry & sparkling. I look forward to sharing with you from an insider's view, additional local specialties and interesting shops personalized for your needs.
This is truly my kind of city! I am an American expat living in Bordeaux and raising three daughters in this dynamic and vibrant city. I fell in love with this beautiful city of stunning architecture harmonized with a "joie de vivre" of its inhabitants and chose to make it home. I am an experienced local and regional tour guide (working with many river and ocean cruise ship companies arriving in Bordeaux for the past 6 years), who loves to share my love and passion for my adopted city and the surrounding region. We will wander through Bordeaux's historic streets and explore it's hidden gems while sharing it's rich history of trade & wine, all while interweaving its modern culture with you. Every day people are mesmerized by its charm and beauty, come visit and let me show you why.
