We meet in front of the Mısır Bazaar. We will stroll into the Eminonu. We will discover hidden gems, cross the old narrow streets. In our route, we will visit 5 Hans(caravanserais or inns) of Eminonu that are still used for workshops, stores, specialized in crafts from gold and silver to leather and carpets. All of them were built in different period of times and sustain their function. Also, we will visit an old Hamam that is used as a Tea-Place now. Lastly, we will enter Kapalı Çarşı(Bazaar) to explore last hidden Han(inn) that is formed around a courtyard with a fountain in the middle, along with workshops and stores. We will have a short break in one of the newest Han to take Black Tea. We'll be observing the urban layout, constructive methods and architectural details of the Han(inn) typology. We start the tour at 10 am before the crowds, so we have more space to explore Old Town. In this 2.5-hour stroll, you'll experience historical architecture with an insider, not just as a tourist, since we will be visiting alive historic places. I keep the names of the Hans as a secret so guests can explore the city by walking. Don't forget your camera :)
I'm an interior-architect who enjoy traveling and discovering fabulous places. Through my work as an interior- architect, I've come to appreciate the quality and rich detail of Eminonu historic architecture, in the layout of its environments. Because of my passion for understanding the relationship between the building and its users, I recently focus on the alive historic buildings with the clever design details that sustain and protect their initial function. I would love to share hidden alive historical places that are located in Eminonu.
We will drink Turkish Black Tea with special Turkish Tea glasses in a typical tea place in a courtyard of one of the Han.
We are going to Hans District in Eminonu. We will pass through historical streets and Grand Bazaar, and enjoy the courtyards of old Hans.
