In this workshop, you will learn all the tricks of the trade, including the art of walking in place, the origin of moonwalk. (It takes a surprising amount of skill!) Then, we'll work on classic pantomimes that have been popularized by the most famous mimes, such as Jean-Louis Barrault and Marcel Marceau, the iconic French mimes. After the workshop, we’ll sit down together and discuss the history of mime up through the present day.
Ivan Bacciocchi is Artistic Director of the International School of Dramatic Corporeal Mime. His assistant, Natalie, is also an accomplished mime. Ivan is the teacher you have to meet in Paris if you are interested into corporeal theatre. Marcel Marceau, better known as the mime Marceau himself asked Ivan to be teacher in his school. Ivan studied at the mime school of Etienne Decroux, founding father of modern mime, also considered as the father of the Moonwalk, made popular by M.Jackson. Student of Etienne Decroux, he was invited by the master to his research projects as his assistant.
Our workshop will take place at the École Internationale de Mime Corporel Dramatique, one of the world's top schools for physical theater.
