Example Walk: We leave the house around 8am, after packing for the day. We will walk up through Gerlan and head over the style into the open grassland at the foot of the Carneddau Mountains. We will then head directly for the summit of Carnedd Dafydd (3,425ft) passing mountain streams, ancient walls and wild Carneddau Ponies along the way. The ascent gets steadily steeper towards the summit, but we will stop for the occasional rest and take in the views. The summit will be reached around 11am. Then there is a fairly easy stroll along the tops to the summit of Pen Yr Ole Wen (3,209ft) where, weather permitting, we can enjoy magnificent views of the Tryfan, the Ogwen Valley, the Glyderau mountains and Snowdon. We will head down from Pen Yr Ole Wen overlooking the Nant Ffrancon Valley and skirting the forest at Braichmelyn. Around 2pm we will arrive back in Bethesda and call into the Douglas Arms for a well deserved pint on me. Whilst this experience does require a good level of fitness, the focus will always be on enjoyment and not endurance. There will be no rush.
Born and bred in the area, I have been walking the local mountains for well over 25 years, becoming a BMC qualified Mountain Leader in 2016. I am passionate about the natural beauty of the area and keen to help others experience as much of it as they comfortably can. I am also passionate about peoples personal wellbeing and will endeavour to provide a positive and pressure-free experience for anyone who chooses to come walking or trekking with me. We will walk straight from the door of our property in Bethesda, so no need to worry about parking. Guests can choose the level of difficulty they wish to experience, from gentle stroll into the spectacular Nant Ffrancon Valley, or bagging 3,000ft summits of the Carneddau & Glyderau Mountains, with or without some scrambling. I will always make sure the walk ends up at the pub!
Water for the trek, beer on completion!
I will provide a small first aid kit, maps, compass and emergency shelter.
Carnedd Dafydd is the third highest peak in Wales. These mountains can be wild and spectacular and can be experienced fully from Bethesda with the right knowledge. On the Carneddau range you will definitely get to see the famous wild and unique Carneddau ponies as well as ravens and birds of prey such as Buzzards, Kestrels, Peregrines and the occasional Red Kite.
最多可供4位年滿18歲的旅人參加。 Guests must not attempt a mountain trek unless they are completely confident in their own fitness level and state of health. Flat-ish walks are available.
Most importantly - bring good walking boots. The weather can be extremely changeable in this part of the world so be prepared and pack extra layers and waterproofs.
