體驗簡介

We will meet at the Station and walk to Sumiyoshi Shrine, which is one of the oldest shrines in Japan. There is a main hall which is a national treasure and a beautiful red bridge.

Then, we will walk to a traditional Wagashi shop (Japanese Traditional Confectionaries) where you will be able to choose one Wagashi for your tea ceremony.

From the Wagashi shop go through the Kishu Kaido to our tea room.

Kaido means a Highway, Kishu Kaido is a road connecting Osaka and Wakayama, and it was used frequently in the middle of 17th century.

When we get to the tea house, you'll learn ‘Otemae’ which is the etiquette in tea ceremony, how to make and drink Matcha as well as how to enter the room etc. This isn't only fun but very aesthetically pleasing.

In Japanese tea ceremony, there are no words exactly express each manner or movement. I’d like you to experience the ceremony and feel it for yourself.

"Wagashi" is Japanese traditional sweets, usually served with Japanese green tea or Matcha. The beautiful appearance is admired as well as the taste. Quite often, the season of the year or the nature.

This experience is hosted by my friend and me. My friend is a master of Sado (tea ceremony) and I'm an organizer of Japanese culture experience, such as Japanese traditional tea ceremony, Koto (Japanese instrument) performance, Japanese Calligraphy and Japanese Home Cooking etc. I'm also an Airbnb host having a listing so I enjoy having people over.

This was a wonderful experience! My group included three people: one who has never been to Japan and doesn't know much about it, one who studied abroad, and one who lives here. We all got something out of it. The experience started with a wonderful tour of some shrines and our guide asked thoughtful questions about what we were looking at. Afterwards, the wagashi shop was a stop away and it was fun to see all the treats and pick one. The tea ceremony was a good teaching moment that allowed us to try it and drink our own tea - and they aren't harsh! If you can't sit in seiza for long, don't worry. They want you to be comfortable and have a good time. They have a lovely home and they are very friendly! I recommend this experience highly!

So much more then I expected. It was like having a foodie best friend with bonus translator. The wagashi shop is better then any other wagashi I have gotten in Osaka thus far...and I've been eating sweets more then actual food since I landed. Since there was no English in shop it was super helpful to have Liza translate what things are and help communicate with staff. We also ran into cute bakery on side street walking to her house for tea ceremony. The town and temple reminds me of animations from Miyazaki, it's a spa for your soul. Chieko did a great job demonstrating and explaining the tea ceremony while still keeping it casual and fun. It created a more approachable no pressure atmosphere that made it much easier for a tea ceremony newbie like myself. There was much laughing chatting and eating. Also, Liza recommended an amazing tamago katsu restaurant for lunch after that defied physics...how can something so creamy and soft be crunchy too? I found amazing new friends in Liza and Chieko, I'm glad we got to all hang out again later and share so much joy in art and food. Chieko and Liza shared amazing shops for bonito, kombu, tea and kimono! It was the best day of trip!

Because Liza took us to Wagayama for a short trip, the tea ceremony took place at her house instead of a temple. Before the ceremony, Liza gave us a drive to buy tea desserts. She also invited an experienced tea ceremony master to tutor us. It was a wonderful experience. I strongly recommend Liza's tea ceremony to everyone who want to get a full knowledge of Japanese tea ceremony.

This was our first Airbnb experience and Liza’s informative and engaging manner made it very memorable. We really enjoyed all the experience from touring temples to selecting our sweets in a local wagashi shop, and of course the wonderful tea ceremony in Liza’s grandmother’s house. Would recommend to anyone.
