體驗簡介

Ikebana differs from the Western style of flower arrangement in many ways. We’ll start by comparing the differences between the two. You’ll be able to feel the beauty of nature and understand Japanese aesthetics and way of thinking. Ikebana utilizes subtraction—you have to remove the excess to see the beauty. It means you have to focus on each flower individually and requires much concentration, but will ultimately make you feel refreshed. Ikebana reflects your personality and emotions. We all use the same flowers, but the results are so different. My hope is that you learn to appreciate this form of floral expression. You will have a chance to speak with my Japanese students, thus enjoying a meaningful cultural exchange and creating special memories of Japan.

Like my mother, I am an Ikebana instructor. I began learning this art when I was 10 years old. I grew up surrounded by flowers and can't live without them. I have taught Ikebana for over 15 years. I majored in Korean at university, and am interested in international cultural exchange. I have taught Ikebana to many foreign visitors and enjoy sharing my passion with people from around the world.

Seika is very communicative and accommodating. The class was small and intimate with a few locals attending as well. A nice way to learn introductory ikebana.

This ikebana class was very unique in providing not only a Japanese cultural experience, but in understanding a more global comparison of perspectives. The class itself is not something that’s exclusive to Airbnb, and in fact runs as a regular class for locals, so I got to see a lot of other examples of ikebana arrangement rather than me just being by myself and having only what I made to exemplify the practice. The host was very helpful and speaking with the other students increased what I took from the class.

When Seika was explaining some basic principles of ikeban, I felt very impressed because it seemed related the core values of Japanese culture. Also, I got to have a very nice photo with my work

Seika explains the basics of ikebana very well. For those who wants to bring your flower sets home as you arranged it, you will have to bring your own kenzan!
