We will meet at our historic original sod roofed Kilcher Cabin where I and my 7 siblings grew up, and get a bit of history of our family’s legacy, as well as background info on the Discovery channel “Alaska: the Last Frontier“ TV reality show. Then we will hike to the beach, while I give you more history how my father and mother worked to create this famous 600 acre Homestead. You will learn about the wildlife, and the vegetation - the edible and medicinal wild plants. We will stroll the beach, with history of the glaciers and Kachemak Bay, settling of Homer area by pioneers. Depending on the weather, we will either have a picnic on the beach (bring your own food) or come back to my own house site to have your box lunch at my place. I will entertain you with stories and sing original music.
Stellavera Kilcher & Michael
I’m an original Kilcher sibling from the famous TV show “Alaska: the Last Frontier”! My brothers are Atz and Otto. Aunt of the famous singer Jewel. I grew up in our log cabin, without electricity and running water, and learned how to harvest wild edible plants. I am passionate about our relationship to Nature, and I’m also a musician, and health coach. I will take you on an exclusive tour of the 600 acre Kilcher Homestead, to our beach, to my yurt for some snacks and wild tea. Of course you’ll get lots of stories and music being with me.
Our sod roofed Cabin is an Alaska the Last Frontier fan “must see”. On my exclusive walking tour: you will learn how my father Yule and mother Ruth and us kids sculpted the land, walk past our orchard and our mother’s memorial, down our beach road where we drink straight from the spring, walk next to our 400 foot deep canyon, stroll the beach... Then we will go to my own home located on the bluff - one of the house-sites of the 8 children.
最多可供6位年滿12歲的旅人參加。 Guests should be comfortable hikers, and have good walking shoes. We will be walking about 2 miles.
Bring good walking shoes. if for some reason, the weather doesn’t support our long walk, we do an indoor story time at my yurt.
