體驗簡介
This is a wonderful opportunity to hike in a quieter area with unparalleled views of the central Cape Peninsula & Hout Bay from Noordhoek Peak! All the while you'll be hiking with a literal Silvermine local - we actually lived within the National Park in what's known as the Silvermine Valley. This area was Justin's childhood turf & Mark's office where the mountains were an extension of our garden.
We'll spend the morning (or afternoon) hiking a circular trail through diverse mountain Fynbos (pronounced: fain - boss) in the Silvermine section of the Table Mountain National Park.
The emphasis is on looking at the details of the unique biodiversity of the Cape Floral Kingdom & we'll be stopping as we hike to chat to you about the different floral species we see within the Fynbos Biome. We'll walk you through just what makes Fynbos, Fynbos! Depending on the time of year you may see anything from beautiful little blue orchids to magnificent giant pink proteas. Wildlife is shy, however we may possibly see the majestic resident pair of Verreaux's Eagles soaring overhead in search of prey.
Our hike is on standard trails, so it's for all levels (family friendly) & we'll cover around 7km at an easy pace. In the warmer summer months bring swim gear as you may want to jump into the recreational Silvermine Dam at the end of the trail (when doing the morning schedule) - reinvigorating!
Other things to note
All hiking skill levels welcome!
Please bring ZAR 128 pp for the National Park gate fee in cash & it's always advisable to leave valuables (Jewellery, Passport, etc.) at Airbnb when out exploring.
Visibilty at the peak may be non-existent should there be cloud about. The view is always a bonus :-)

We're a father & son guiding duo, Mark & Justin Hawthorne, with a unique Cape Town background of having lived within the National Parks' borders for almost 3 decades!
Mark is a Nature Conservationist by profession, starting off in 1982 as a Ranger and later as an Environmental Educator - spending just shy of 40 years working on the Table Mountain range.
Thanks to Mark's job, Justin had the privilege of growing up within the boundaries of the incredible Table Mountain National Park at Silvermine - the mountains here were their literal backyard!
Justin, who got into guiding back in 2007, spends roughly 240 days a year in the mountains & collects data on Klipspringers while doing so.
We live for sharing our love of nature by leading interpretive nature trails & outdoor excursions across the fynbos covered mountains of the Western Cape.

Lovely hike with the most incredible views. Mark was a wealth of knowledge and stories about the local flora and the surrounds which made it more than just a hike -

Amazing hole today at the Silvermine Nature Reserve. Justin is a very friendly guy and obviously loves what he does. He explained the various types of fynbos on the hike and constantly pointed out things I simply wouldn’t have noticed on my own. The hike itself was not too taxing which was great as I could concentrate on taking in the information and admiring the stunning views. Highly recommended.
