We'll walk to CANYON FALLS, the hidden gem of Sunland CA. You will be entertained with hiking themed music, fun true stories about your host, getting to know you games, and enjoying the reverence of nature in all it's glory! The total amount of round trip is just under 5 miles. This is a tougher moderate hike, so if this is your fist time hiking. I think you might want to train a little before you get out here. Here is a list of things to expect: -lots of shade during the middle part of the hike -the trail is easy to follow, wear sweat pants if you don't like your legs being scratched by some brush along the way -dog friendly, my dog Bear always travels with me -waterfall, there is a rope to help give you access to the bottom of the waterfall (currently the waterfall is dry-sorry) -beautiful wild flowers (if your a flower enthusiast like my GF, this hike is for you) -clean trail (please no litterbugs) -people of all ages can enjoy this trail, children can also hike this trail as well if they have previous experience, my daughters could easily hike 5 miles by age 5-keep in mind we were out and about all the time. On the way down we can sit down and have a brief picnic, I will provide water and snacks. Feel free to bring a sandwich, just keep in mind not to load yourself up too much. If you hike the pm time be prepared for some heat up the hill.
I have been hiking on average of 8 times per month since 2003 (it rounds out to about 1,400 hikes, wow didn't realize that until now). I take my two daughters, my girlfriend and my dog along with me on most hikes, unless it's my first time on the trail. Hiking is a passion for me for several reasons. #1) With the hustle and bustle of living in Los Angeles and being a teacher (6th grade Ancient History) I find that I maintain my sanity through hiking less traveled local paths. #2) It keeps me fit and healthy going up and down hills. #3) I realized that taking my daughters on all those hikes has built a great foundation of perseverance, communication and peace between all three of us. #4) Enjoying nature and realizing that there is so much more to life than being on our tech all day long.
I will have at least three different types of snacks on every hike, examples: goldfish, fruit, trail mix, sunflower seeds,…
Alkaline bottled water (hey only the best for my hikers).
Sunscreen (organic of course). Evening hikes I will provide the flashlights, usually the last 20 minutes we will need them.
The entire hike is a hidden gem of So Cal. Most people go to Eaton Canyon, that hike is packed, littered with trash and rattlesnakes. Trail Canyon Falls is truly hidden away in the sleepy town of Sunland CA. My schedule is flexible, so if you don't see a date or time available PM me and I will try to accommodate you.
Athletic shoes and clothes, Sunglasses, Hat, Camera or phone. Please Read All group messages Thorougly. Please be on time and bring your best attitude.
The tough part of the hike is under the sun going UP, UP, UP. This is what gets most people, please drink lots of water the night before. There are NO restrooms so please go BEFORE. This shouldn't be your first hike and you should have no health restraints.
