Before our walk, we meet the donkeys and find out about their nature and special needs and features. You will learn how to groom, feed and handle a donkey. To start our trip we choose the appropriate donkey for each hiker. Getting ready for our trekking includes the preparation of our backpacks with all we need, such as cookies, teapot, coffee, water e.t.c. The distance we shall cover is about 6-8 kilometers and includes a 30-minute stop at the Bethleem monastery, which is built on top of the ancient Sfytos town. The surroundings is full of old olive trees and vineyards. At this time we will make traditional greek coffee. During our trekking you will learn how to lead and negotiate with your donkey. Walking by the side of the most passionate and calm animal is a unique experience that you will remember forever. Your action doesn't stop here. When we arrive back to the stable, you can participate in feeding all donkeys, as well as the chickens and the ducks. As a reward for our effort we will enjoy a glass of greek raki and traditional mezedes

I left advertising/studio photography after 27 years in order to be near my lovely donkeys, take care of them and share my passion with everyone who wants to know this amazing animal. I trained and certified as a donkey keeper from the Donkey Sanctuary of Manchester. I love to live in the nature and - among others - organize trekking walks next to these amazing creatures. With our donkeys as hikers, we take long walks through paths, meadows and unfamiliar landscapes. This experience offers a bond of trust and friendship with this special animal. I'm also the co-founder of the Hellenic Donkey Center - Gaidourohora. We currently host 16 donkeys, ensuring a life with proper care, love & respect for their needs and take action for the recovery of those in need, advising and training owners and providing information, education, and treatment.

We are located in Koropi, a suburb east of the Hymettus mountain and 16 km southeast of central Athens. Our farm is full of almond, olive trees and thyme and the environment reminds of the old Greek countryside. We currently host 15 donkeys and a tiny pony. Our walk will take place in the Hymettos mountain range with a rich ecosystem with over 600 species of plants, more than 100 species of birds and several species of mammals.
