There are many close towns for day trips including Washington D.C., Manassas, Shanandoah, Fredericksburg, Luray & Occoquan

Historic House Close to Fredericksburg

Travel back in time nearly 200 years and stay at the Bazil Gordon House -built by America's first millionaire. Circa 1820, this house started as the private home of Bazil Gordon a short walk from his trading outpost in Historic Falmouth, VA directly on the Rappahannock River. The house has also been a civil war hospital, a stop on the underground railroad, a tavern, an excavation site that found venetian trade beads in the back yard, and it is now completely remodeled in 2021 to host guests.

Within driving distance to wineries, Stratford Hall, George Washington & James Monroe's birthplace, Westmoreland State Park, and the beach town of Colonial Beach.

Additionally, we are within 1 hour of DC, Richmond, and Shenandoah.

A calm container for rest and observation, the pace softens, shaped by small rituals: lighting the fire, soaking in the wood-fired tub, making coffee by hand. Weather moves through the trees, changing the light, the air, the sound. Each day feels different. The forest shifts, and you might, too.

The Stoney Cottage is located on a 20 acre farm in the middle of beautiful Fauquier County. It provides a unique and peaceful getaway while still offering a lot of local attractions. It is conveniently located to many local attractions such as wineries, breweries, Farmers Markets, The Flying Circus air show, Civil War battlefields and the Shenandoah National Park.

Pets welcome! Cozy, comfortable, and spacious efficiency apartment with a view of pristine woods and adorable chickens and ducks. Go for a walk in the woods to Beech Creek or explore the quaint town of Ashland just 10 minutes away. A great space to unplug, rest, and get away from it all! Please note that we are not able to accommodate long-term rentals.
