One Bed Beautifully Restored Listed Cosy Bothy

NB: The barns opposite have recently been purchased and will be restored in due course, so daytime building works are possible. Our Bothy is a beautifully restored one-bedroom cosy and welcoming retreat in a peaceful setting, surrounded by an acre of meadow and hills. Just over a mile from the ducal village of Thornhill’s shops, cafés and pubs. Full of original character, it is an immaculate, fully equipped and comfortable base for relaxing, walking and exploring scenic Dumfries and Galloway.

Shinnel House

This beautifully positioned house sits within its own extensive and well-maintained wildlife garden and provides spacious accommodation for up to 8 people. The peaceful garden with riverside strolls beside Shinnel Water is shared with the owner who lives in an adjacent cottage. Big windows make for bright rooms and look out onto large expanses of lawn, a pond and small river (both unfenced). NOTE – The garden is not enclosed and has an UNFENCED pond and river. Small children must be supervised.

The Steading Cottage

The Steading Cottage at Holmhill was once the stables and groom’s quarters to the elegant Georgian main house built by the Drumlanrig Castle Estate. It offers a cosy and beautifully appointed country retreat with breathtaking views over the beautiful Nith Valley and surrounding farmland, renown for its walks, wildlife and fishing. Multiple French Doors provide access to the patio and garden. The Cottage has ramped access. Visit Scotland awarded the Steading Cottage, Holmhill, a 4 star rating.

It is nestled just off the dead-end road that goes up the glen. Our chalet is in our large, well managed garden. While it is near our house and we are happy to chat, we always respect peoples privacy. This is a very peaceful place where you can sit outside and watch the flames of the fire pit at night or stay in and have a cosy evening. Our neighbours are all of the four legged variety so some countryside noises are to be expected but the cows love to come and greet you at the wall. Parking space in garden
