The Pearl of Whakatiwai

The Pearl of Whakatiwai. A completely restored Bed/kitchen/dining room with separate shower and toilet. This house was built in the 50's and so we have lovingly recreated the whole 50's vibe for your enjoyment. Right on the edge of the Firth of Thames you can lie in bed and see the views that go on forever. A great little kitchen with new oven and fridge, plus all the tools you need if you want a "foodie" get away. We do not have a TV, but great WiFi. Great fishing right on your doorstep.

Our home offers separate private guest accommodation in the downstairs of our house, with separate access for guests' convenience. Thames is well situated for travelers exploring the scenic Coromandel Peninsula, the Kauaeranga Valley and other attractions within the area. Easy access to walking tracks and the Hauraki Rail Trail. Beaches are within an easy drive.

The property backs onto the Kauaeranga River, a beautiful clean flowing river with an idyllic swimming hole at the end of the property. The majestic Pinnacles walking track is at the end of the road. The cottage is just 5km from the centre of Thames township; everything is nearby, including the popular Hauraki Rail Trail which is a 3.5km cycle from Bakehouse Cottage.

Grab a bean bag and a book,sit in the bush or on the bush edge and allow nature to nurse you and relax.

This couples Retreat is ideal for that relaxing , rejuvenating break. This calm stylish space will let you do that. Our AirBnB is a separate, self-contained wing of our beautiful new home in Totara, 3kms south of Thames Township and gateway to the Coromandel Peninsula. We are about an hour’s drive from Auckland International Airport and close to the many and varied attractions of the Coromandel and the Waikato Region. Easy access to the Hauraki Rail Trail. From our elevated position there are uninterrupted views over the township, Firth of Thames and the Kauaeranga Valley.
