House of Colovic - All in one place

The House of Colovic lies at the side of Mount Rudnik in the village of Mala Vrbica, 22km from Kragujevac (105km south of Belgrade), in Sumadia, the heart of Serbia. The house, surrounded by a large property looks like areal «hacienda» and represents a journey through Serbian history, a perfect unbreakable link between the old rural architecture and modern times. The farm complex was built in unique harmony with a line of old guest houses, wooden houses, milk houses, barns - all placed in three circular yards. These are all preserved in their original appearance and represent an unique historical monument. The most remarkable is the so called Old House, built at the beginning of 19th century. The house contains one of the oldest original fireplaces in Serbia, which is why this house is a monument of culture under the protection of the State. Nearby is the “New House” built in 1900 and renovated in 2010. On the ground floor there is a wonderful combination of the rich interior of 19th century with original pieces of furniture, well preserved historical family documents, old posters, trophies and rare photographs. All this is combined with a modern, well equipped space with kitchen and enclosed porch with a view of The Old House. The top floors have been adapted into several nice, modern apartments with a Finnish sauna and living room with library. In the large yard is a swimming pool (9mx4,5m) equipped with counter flow system and massagers, and mini-gym. An original souvenir shop full with the numerous hand and home made products is located in one of the smallest rooms of the old “Konak” house, also home to the Gallery of the House of Colovic. According to the opinion of many visitors, tourists and historian experts, the House of Colovic offers a unique ambiance incomparable to that of any in Sumadia and maybe all of Serbia!
