If you have kids (or are a kid!) then Legoland, SeaWorld, Birch Aquarium, SD Zoo, Wildlife Safari Park, Balboa Park, Del Mar Fairgrounds are all a short drive away. If you want a hipster, romantic get-away, just walk down the hill to the beach, trendy restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, surfing, sunbathing, people-watching, and just unplugging.

Must scramble down park path to the stony shore, but a sandy beach one quarter mile away. En suite/king bed, dog fee $55 per night.
