The quintessential kiwi bach, simple and functional, set in complete privacy within our farm on a stunning site high above all else. Originally hunting huts, this unique holiday home is actually four separate buildings that are linked by a large outdoor deck. We replaced roofing, renewed the decking and renovated the insides to create a unique holiday home that has a special character all its own. The front two pods are the living spaces: kitchen/dining and lounge each with stacker doors which open up onto the central deck. The two rear pods are identical in configuration, each split into a double room and a bunk room with internal access to each other, perfect for one family per pod. The bathroom adjoins the lounge and has a shower over a bath, a toilet and a double vanity. The utility room has washer, dryer and laundry tub and a second toilet. The outdoor shower on the northern deck is a completely open showering experience! Both double bedrooms enjoy the unequalled lake views and you'll wake to see the sun rising over Mount Tarawera. A genuine Stoked Hot Tub sits under a pohutukawa on the edge of the front lawn and is a perfect way to relax and enjoy the vista by day and the famous starfilled lake Tarawera sky by night. The lake bach is ideally suited for... Okere Lakehouse Retreat is a stunning architectural holiday home, with breathtaking lake views inside and out and native bush and birdlife all around. Modern, spacious and private, the house accommodates up to 14 guests. The lake is a short walk from the house, via a private tree lined walkway (2 minute stroll). The property is a 20 min drive from the city, down a shared drive.

Our private guesthouse offers two bedrooms, each with a comfortable queen-size bed, making it ideal for couples, friends, or small families. The main bedroom is generously sized, while the second bedroom is more compact. It comfortably sleeps two, but if extra space for luggage or movement is important to you, this is worth considering when booking. One modern bathroom in between with heated floor. Next to the cycleway and 5 minutes from the mountain bike trails.
