Welcome to Baker & Birch — a peaceful, thoughtfully designed stay in the heart of Jacksonville, Illinois. Just blocks from downtown, Illinois College, Future Swings, Jacksonville Memorial Hospital, the fairgrounds, & Jacksonville Speedway, our location is perfect for weddings, sporting events, and weekend getaways. I grew up in Jacksonville and once lived in this apartment myself, making this space especially meaningful. Comfortable, local, central, & close to great food, history, & local charm.

Container Home GREAT Countryside Views COZY Stay

Singing Hills Cabin is the ultimate getaway for fresh air and an unbeatable view of the countryside. Enjoy morning coffee as the sun rises from the large front porch. This newly renovated container home is perfect for small families looking for an outdoor escape or for couples seeking a romantic getaway. It is located on a 40 acre hobby farm, so do not be surprised if you see cows and other wildlife during your stay! The best deer hunting, river access, and restaurants are located minutes away.

Sugar Shack, a retro studio apartment

In this unique space you get to enjoy some of the new with the old. Building is over 150 years old. Original hardwood floors beautifully sanded, stained and restored. 7’ tall replacement windows allow lots of natural light & air to flow through. 10’ ceilings in main part of studio adds spaciousness. 8’ bar attached to exposed brick wall offers a place to dine as well as provides a workspace. Newly constructed kitchen & bath with stackable washer/dryer. Comfort & style throughout! We welcome you!

Basketball Pickleball +Party Room + Loft Sleeps 17

The ultimate location for entertaining the entire family or sports team! Over 10,000 square feet to roam! Full court basketball (can set up for pickleball upon request), party/entertainment room, kitchen, bathrooms and a finished loft for sleeping up to 17 guests. Play, cook, relax and sleep. Master bedroom has sheets, pillows/pillow cases, and comforter. For the five triple bunk beds, these will have sheets, pillows, and pillow cases. But you MUST bring your own blanket or sleeping bag.

Scenic 3 bedroom Wildlife Retreat

Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay. This rustic retreat is located on the Illinois river and adjacent to the 5,255 acre National Wildlife Refuge. Whether you fish, watch wildlife from the back deck, relax by firepit or go duck hunting on the bay, you are sure to enjoy this peaceful stay with your family and friends. Wildlife includes bald eagles, whitetail deer, fox, herons, egrets and over 100 species of songbirds. Native prairie trails adjacent to property as well.

Bunkhouse Seventy-Four

Once used by seasonal farm labor in the 1930s, Bunkhouse Seventy-Four is a fully restored historic bunkhouse with all the modern amenities for a comfortable getaway. Perfect for couples, it features a full kitchen, bath, queen bed, a spacious porch, beautiful antique stained glass windows, a private outdoor soaking tub (Apr-Nov) on a 7 acre hobby farm. Also check out our listing, Audrey’s Abode, which is next door. Pets are welcome but we charge a $25 pet cleaning fee.

We are currently housing a family that suffered a house fire and have been displaced from their home. This property will not be available to book until 2027. Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Perfect spot to relax and get away from it all. The house sits on a beautiful 4 acre lake surrounded by amazing pine trees and 18 acres of meadow full of wildflowers. This property is more than just a place to stay, it is a destination.
