胡乱座（ウロンザ）の家屋は1897年（明治30年）に建てられました。 京町家と呼ばれる伝統家屋です。 2007年に文化財登録されました。 125年以上前の自然環境や生活習慣や文化に合わせて建てられた建物です。 つまり現代の気候や生活習慣や考え方とは合わない部分が多いです。 失われていく建物に滞在することで、お客様自身が(伝統家屋の「良さ」「悪さ」も含め)見て、触れて、感じて、考える体験型のゲストハウスです。 快適で便利で充実したサービスを求める人には不向きです。 そして静かに過ごしたい人のためのゲストハウスです。
 一般的な宿と違いハウスルールが多いです。
マナーにも厳しいです。 にぎやかに過ごしたい人や、お喋りを楽しみたい人などには不向きです。 コンセプトによりエアコンは設置していません。 夏の暑さや冬の寒さに弱い人にはお勧めしません。 静かに落ち着いた時間を大切にしたい人には好まれます。 1人で運営しているため毎日閉館時間があります(昼12時〜午後4時)。 設備やハウスルールをご同意してからご予約をお願いします。　 非日常となった空間で様々なことを感じて考えてみて下さい。

【90 years old Japanese house】2F Single room SUISEN

Higurashi-sou is a small guesthouse with 5 rooms only. This room is called 'Suisen' with unique Karakami paper doors with hand-drawn swirls and swimming frogs. (There are no bathrooms on the same floor. ) We can offer 'free bathhouse ticket', Enjoy our bathhouse culture with the locals! 10 minutes walk to Nijo castle. We love this neighborhood which shows fascinating local side. This is only for one person stay but we also have other rooms, please check our profile for more information.

Experience life in a traditional Kyoto house

Hana House is a traditional house built about 100 years ago >> limited to one group per day (1-4 people). Hana house is located within 5 min walk of Katsura station on Hankyu line. 　You takes less 7 min from Katsura station to Arashiyama(嵐山) ,takes only 15 min to Gion and 20 min to JR Kyoto station.The moss temple “Saihoji” is at the next station.The region is located in one of the most culturally important areas of the country.The Katsura Imperial Villa is located a 15-minute walk away.

Our inn was apparently built in the early Showa period. We have renovated the bathroom and kitchen areas to make your stay more comfortable while still retaining the charm of the townhouse, such as the low ceilings and narrow, steep stairs. Why not try experiencing a bit of Kyoto life? Please note that we will charge a local accommodation tax (200 yen per person per night) in addition to the accommodation fee. The price is scheduled to increase from March 2026.

Guesthouse Umeya single room traditional house

Umeya is a small machiya in the Nishijin area of Kyoto, renovated using traditional methods. You can reach famous places such as Kinkaku-ji, Kitano Tenmangu, the Imperial Palace, Nijo Castle, and Kamishichiken within a 15-minute bicycle ride. Note: The stairs to the second floor are quite steep. The toilet and shower room are shared and face the garden (available 24 hours a day).
