It was the church where Beatrice Portinari's family had their own graves, andthis were you still can visit the tombstone of Beatrice's father: Folco Portinari. Ancient stories narrate that this is the church, where Dante, aged 9, saw Beatrice for the first time, fell in love at first sight and kept loving her for the rest of his life.
