The Colyer Mercantile

Established in 1857, the Colyer Mercantile is an absolute gem. The house was originally built by William Colyer and it's in his honor that Colyer Lake was named. The 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house has been completely renovated from the inside out. The historic charm of the house has not been lost, but instead, it has become it's most prized highlight. From the push button light switches, to the original door knobs you'll feel like you've gone back in time without losing any modern amenities.

Firewood (for the firepit) is included.

Looking for a place to rest your head? This is a nice quiet spot located in Centre Hall just 15 minutes away from Penn State Campus and 18 Minutes away form the stadium. This is a private studio with it's own private entrance and space for your convenience. Walk to downtown centre hall and grab a slice from the delicious Brother's Pizza. We are located in the beautiful big valley in Amish country. The valley includes tourist stores, produce stands and baked goods, and quilts. We are only 35 minutes from Penn State, Lake Raystown is only 45 minutes, Mifflin Co. airport is 5 min, 3.5 miles from 322. Enjoy relaxing and drinking coffee on the porch while watching the deer and beautiful country scenery. Guests are welcome to give the deer treats. Private outdoor fire pit. Located directly off of Rt. 35, and only a mile off of US 322, gets you to State College or Harrisburg in around 45 minutes. With plenty around to do, we are only 10 minutes from the nationally known, Port Royal Speedway. Close to state parks, ski resorts, fly fishing, hiking and kayaking. And local Amish produce and wineries just down the road!

Our cabin is located in the heart of central Pennsylvania and Amish Country. We are surrounded by three valleys; Havice Valley, Treaster Valley and New Lancaster Valley bordering the Bald Eagle State Forest. We are in close proximity to Penn State University (approx. 30 miles) Penn's Creek, Poe Valley State Park, Reed's Gap State Park, local wineries, several wedding venues and many other local PA attractions.
