Cottage is a stand-alone building on our 2-acre property overlooking beautiful October Mountain, part of the Appalachian Trail. It is attached to an unused horse barn, which still has two horse stalls and a tack room. The location is close to downtown Lenox but very quiet and private.
The cottage's porch leads to a large, open "great room" that feels very much like a ski lodge or cabin, with wide-plank wood floors and exposed beams. The great room has a dining table with 4 chairs, a cool mid-century orange sofa and 2 matching chairs and an entertainment unit with a TV and DVD player. There is also a ceiling fan for air circulation and a skylight that can be opened to allow air in and out (plus, it has an automatic shade, should you want to block the sun). We also have an air conditioner available for this room, should you need it.
Down a set of stairs is the second "entryway", off of which is a recently renovated bathroom (see pic), a roomy shower and a claw-foot tub for soaking! Also there is a recently renovated open kitchen with all new appliances, a granite counter top and a "bar" seating area with two stools. A gas heating unit sits just outside the kitchen and can be used to heat the whole place, as needed. Down the hall are two bedrooms: The first has a queen bed with dresser and closet; the second is a more flexible room, with a daybed that can be used as a sofa but also can be made up as a single bed, and there is a trundle bed underneath it - so, you can have two single beds or put them together and make a king bed. We also have a queen-size air mattress in this room (or it could be used in the living room), along with a linen cabinet with all of your bedding and towels. IMPORTANT: The second bedroom has no door, so anyone staying there needs to be aware of the lack of privacy! Both bedrooms have fairly new carpeting, and we have a window air conditioner available for either bedroom, should you need it.
In addition, we have a washer and dryer for your use.
We have one dedicated parking spot for the cottage, but the driveway is large and can accommodate additional cars as needed - please let us know if you would need more than one spot.
The yard is large - there is a flat area with a fire pit (please just be very careful if you use it) and then it slopes down from the cottage toward October Mountain. Dogs are fine to run loose in the yard, however, we ask two things: 1) Please try to keep the dogs in the yard near the cottage, not near our house, as we have two dogs (leashed only, never running free) that will go a bit crazy if they see other dogs coming near the house; and 2) you must clean up after your dogs immediately - do not leave their poops in the yard for later clean-up, please. :-)
We love meeting our guests, but our schedule is very unpredictable, so we may not be there when you check in or even at all during your stay. But, we're always available by phone or text.
Pets are allowed, we just ask that you do everything you can to ensure they don't damage the cottage or furniture or linens etc. Also, see the earlier comments about dogs (and cleaning up after them).
No cigarette or cigar smoking at all, either inside the cottage or in the yard, sorry!
No parties or large get-togethers, please.
