Our quiet space in the country is 3 miles from the base of Hawk Mountain and approximately 6 miles from the Appalachian trail head in Port Clinton. Our charming little studio type apartment offers warm and rustic accommodations ideal for hikers, bikers, couples, and outdoor enthusiasts.
Our little space is built into our barn and is situated on our 35 acres. Your only real neighbors would be our chickens! We offer a complimentary half-dozen of our farm fresh, organic eggs.
We have bunk beds and a sofa bed single. The kitchenette is stocked with glasses, pots, plates, utensils, a coffeemaker, microwave, toaster oven, electric frying pan, griddle, and double hotplate. Running water is accessed through the bathroom, however. There is a full refrigerator, a lovely propane fireplace to keep you warm, or an overhead fan to cool you off. We also have electric heat or air conditioning if needed.
Our TV is not connected to cable, but we do have a variety of DVD's for your enjoyment. We do not have wi-fi.
Outside there is a grill for you to cook on, a fire pit (we have skewers and roasting sticks) and a picnic table. It's a great, functional, "no-frills" space. On a clear night the stars are amazing due to lack of light pollution.
Positively no smoking is permitted in our apartment.
You have access to our 35 acres and are welcome to explore much of it. You may feed our chickens (we have chicken feed for you).
There is a small porch to relax on and a fire pit as long as there is no burn ban and the wind is calm. We provide a small amount of wood and skewers for roasting.
We will greet you whenever possible and will be available to answer questions but respect your privacy, as we have busy lives and careers. We use the barn portion (see picture) for our farm equipment, so occasionally we would come and go in the attached building.
We are very rural, but we are close to some fun places like Long Trout Winery, Hawk Mountain, the Appalachian trail, along with rails to trails paths in Auburn, Landingville, and Hamburg. The center of our sweet little town of Orwigsburg is a few miles away and we recommend eating at the Brickhouse, the Inn of Orwigsburg, Roman Delight, Oak Hill Inn, Deer Lake Pub, The Port Clinton Hotel, The Westy or Valenti's. Menus are provided in our guide/rule book.
We also recommend making a stop at Cabela's, the Yuengling Brewery, Blue Lizard Winery, Fieldwood Winery & It's a blast to visit 4Play Moonshine in Schuylkill Haven for an unforgettable tasting ( they have SO many cool flavors).

Hard-working, respectful, adventurous, and cheerful, I try to Carpe Diem when presented with great opportunities and travel options. I love running, the outdoors, and visiting with interesting people. While urban locations mesmerize and entertain me, I feel most at home in quiet, natural settings.
