Welcome to our home! Your room has a magnificent and sweeping view of the Fortress (Fortaleza) and the mountains. The view unfurls from the windows of your room and our patio. Or, look to the left and you'll see the Pinkulluna granary ruins towering right over you. We have a great vantage point and are located right in the old original Inca part of town (on the stone street of Lares / Lari Calle) just one block from the Plaza.
Our traditional Ollanta home is split into two levels. Upstairs is your bedroom and below is the kitchen & living area, the outdoor patio, and the bathroom (accessed by walking down the stairs outside). The property has views from nearly every point. The fortress and mountains in front of you and behind and to the side of the property you can see the Pinkulluna granary ruins.
You will share the home with the two of us. You are free to use our kitchen just please clean up after yourself at the sink outside the kitchen. We share access to the one bathroom with you. To access the home, you will walk up a short concrete ramp from the street (this crosses the small irrigation canal on our street) and will then walk through a narrow uneven stone walkway as you pass through our neighbor's home until walk a brief dirt path of about 4 meters to our home's gate.
Steven is here on volunteer work with an Ollantaytambo based NGO and Duane takes care of the house. We are happy to share our experience living in Ollanta with you and help you have a wonderful time in the Sacred Valley and Peru.
The home is shared with us and we live on site in our own bedroom. To enter our home, you pass through our neighbor's walkway. At night it can be dark but we will give you a flashlight. This is a rural area and our neighbors lead a traditional life. You may see a sweet puppy (Osito) hopping around the path to our house and the occasional chicken will mosey by. Also, our neighbor raises guinea pigs (cuy) - a mainstay of the Quechua diet next door. We recommend sturdy shoes / boots that you don't mind getting dirty. Lastly, the bathroom is on the first floor of the house and is a normal enclosed bathroom with an electric shower (we'll go over how to use it) however, you must walk outside of your bedroom on the outdoor stairs to get to the bathroom (and kitchen).
Please respect the home and our property. Nice and friendly people are always welcome.
