Medieval St.Fort-sur-Gironde is set in an undulating landscape full of vineyards, forests and sunflower fields close to the sea. The area is great for bicycling. A number of scenic bicycle routes invite you through this magnificent countryside where you can stop and taste locally produced wine, pineau and cognac, pick-nick or eat at village restaurants along the routes. One of the oldest cult places in Europe - Ermitage St.Martial, and Talmont-sur-Gironde - one of the most visited sites in western France are within bicycle reach. Within an hour by car you have access to Bordeaux, Cognac ad the Roman centre Saintes. 35 -40 minutes to beaches in Mechers, St.George-de-Didonne and Royan. 15 -20 minutes to public swimming pools in Gemozac and Mirembeau, and the water park -les Antilles - in Jonzac.
St.Fort-sur-Gironde has a bakery, a grocery store, an ironmonger, a post office, a doctor, a pharmacy, a tobacconist, a hair dresser and a very good open market on Saturdays. In Port Maubert 4 kilometers towards the Estuary, there is a restaurant and a creperie.

The bed is a small double bed 140 x 190, but it fits two persons easily, especially if they are fond of each other.
