SWEET HOME STAY is a single story 2 bedroom/1 bath 1950's-era bungalow short walking distance to Arcata Plaza, Northtown district, and Humboldt State University Gateway. It has a fenced yard, ideal for pets, accepted with approval and $25.00 pet fee. Prior to guest check in, we run an ozone gas generator to purify air and all surfaces and it kills the Coronavirus. This property is EXCELLENCE RATED by Tripadvisor. Arcata 10% Bed Tax is included in the nightly rate.

This vacation rental is appointed in whimsical mid-century vintage style: the floors are hardwood and Marmoleum, retro accessories and artwork collected by the owners enhance the décor, and the kitchen even features a 1946 O’Keefe & Merritt gas range in pristine condition. The living room is a comfortable conversation area with leather club chairs and loveseat, vintage mosaic coffee table, and a flat screen TV. The master bedroom is traditional and features a queen sleigh bed, armoire with large flat-screen TV, a cozy reading area with a sumptuous overstuffed club chair, fireplace, and mica reading lamps. The second smaller bedroom has a twin bed, desk, TV, and table with a reading lamp. The television service includes expanded cable with about 100 channels as well as streaming. A foam futon is available to set up as a second twin bed. The bath features a mint-condition porcelain soaking tub with chrome telephone fixtures and shower conversion. From this convenient location, stroll 2 blocks to Wildberries Marketplace, down H Street to Northtown shopping and eating district and Arcata Plaza, or over to the HSU Campus Gateway 3 blocks away.

Christy owns and operates Arcata Stay Lodging Network, created in 2004. She is also the host at Rose Court Cottage. The “Arcata Stay Mission” is to arrange upscale vacation rental accommodations convenient walking distance to Arcata’s downtown plaza and HSU, which provide our visiting guests the most positive lodging experience possible. Christy opened Rose Court Cottage for business in January 2004, upon retiring from a 22 year career as a sales representative in the apparel and gift industry. Blessed with a creative skill set, she transformed what was previously an office space for her husband into Rose Court Cottage and launched a new career working from home. Becoming a host was a complete re-invention with a very satisfactory outcome. Having traveled for years, she knew what lodging amenities she appreciated and has made every effort to provide for her guests’ comfort during their stay. She is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Humboldt County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and has also served as the President of the Board of Directors of the Humboldt Film Commission (R.R.E.E.L., Inc.). Christy and her husband share their home with their Holland Lop house rabbit. Sharing information about the garden and the beautiful redwood coast is also always a pleasure.
