A new host you should avoid for now. My experience: Bait and switch... twice. There were two units available, a 1-BR and a 2-BR. After waiting for over a day to see what size bed was in the 1 BR (Queen) and if the sofa was a sleeper (the answer eventually given was yes), I booked the 2-BR unit on July 29. On July 31 I was notified that they had entered the wrong price for the 2 BR. On August 8 I was told that the 2BR was unavailable would not be ready on August 22 as the furniture would not be delivered in time. My reservation was changed to the 1 BR unit. Please note as you read this that the description indicates that climbing stairs will be necessary. We received multiple messages the day prior asking when we were arriving, and more the day of. Unfortunately, cell reception was poor and then non existent as we walked in to and out of Carlsbad Caverns (the elevators were out of service). We think we know why there were so many messages... they were trying to finish the unit. So, we find the building... a brand new 3-story apartment complex located on a side street between the (now out of business) KMart and the Walmart Supercenter. Sandwiched between the VA and the Hampton Inn. We find the manager's office. After about 5 minutes, he finds a key and opens the unit for us. No electronic locks here. We are directed to return the key in the morning by placing it on top of a trash can. We are on the ground floor (all ads on AirBnB talk about walking up to the unit, and now it says unit 307). We get put in to 106. This isn't the unit we booked. I question it, and I am told that this is our unit. At the physical edge of the building is the sidewalk which runs along the edge of the building parallel to the street. Past the sidewalk is shared parking for the tenants of the 30 units. This physical set up means that the drunk guy smoking and drinking a beer on the sidewalk while trying to look in to our bedroom window (remember, the public sidewalk is 2" from the window) is in a public space. The police said so. The plastic venetian-style blinds are not well-fitted, and are light-filtering, not light blocking. The place is BRAND new. The trash can (no trash bags) has the wrappers for everything that was brought into the unit. All the energystar paperwork for the appliances, the wrappers for the towels, etc. More owners manuals in the pantry, and in the top drawer of the dressers. The range is flashing 12:00. The microwave is not plugged in. There are four each bowls, plates, mugs... one of which is chipped before it has even been used. A basic dish pack and utensil pack from Walmart. The TV is new... and still in...
