Hi Honey! My name is Myrtle Beth, if you'd like, you can call me Granny. My grannydaughter, Stacey lives here with me and the two of us are running this here Nest of ours. The Nest is the attic of a blue house on a quiet street with YUGE trees in the front yard: one mimosa and one curly willow--and don't you know they have names--Mimosa and Willow! How do you like that? Walk up the front steps, take a right at the rose bush and head to the back yard, go through the gate, walk around Cherry (my other tree, Honey) and say hello to the chickies: RePecca, Lacey Lou Eaglechick, Olive and Goldie. Bawk Baaaaaawk!! The back door is your entrance. Don't be afraid of the man in the window--"Ya Basta" means "enough" or "stop" in Spanish. He's super punk rock! The key is in the lock box. Punch in the code to close the box as well as open it and leave the key in the box! Come on in and take your coat and shoes off, Honey, cuz you are home now! Leave 'em at the bottom of the stairs and then get ready for a climb up my Portlandia Approved creaky ol staircase. If you are brave, peak at the vintage kitchen on the first floor and ignore the mess--I clean it everyday and somehow it messes up again everyday of my life! We are busy gals!

Climb all the way up, up, up and don't stop until you see your cozy queen-sized bed--that's for you! It's your bed! You know what else is up in my attic, Honey?
A claw foot bathtub! I know! Aaaaand a private lounge! Wow! I am sharing half my house with y'all, Honey! You've got a mini fridge, coffee and tea, microwave, some dishes, popcorn popper, something to play tunes on, maybe even some fancies to play with. Hopefully you like my art! Oh you are just gonna have the best ol time in my nest, Honey, I just know it! Sit down at the cafe table and check out the view through those ol windows--if you look real hard and zig zag around all the green, you might be able to make out the west hills and OHSU (teaching hospital) across the river. My tree babies, Mimosa and Willow are so big now, they take up most of the view while also providing the best shade in Portland. And don'tcha know I planted those giants? Well I'll tell ya--I did! They were not much taller than me when I planted them and now they are enormous--that about tells you how long we've been lovin each other in this ol house, doesn't it? And now you get to enjoy them too. Isn't that just the cutest thing ever?

Our house is located in a grass-roots area of SE Portland. It's close to everything! There are community gardens, bike paths and organic grocery stores close by. New Seasons and People's Food Co-Op are within walking distance and People's has a local farmer's market every Wednesday. Clinton Street Theater plays "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" every Saturday night at midnight--it's just up the street. And Ladd's Addition is right over there with multiple rose gardens and a sweet little coffee shop called Palio's.

There are so many great restaurants opening up all the time--we still need to try them! Division street has had a "facelift" and now boasts a "Salt and Straw" ice cream parlor! Also try 50 Licks on 21st and Clinton for some frozen treats. Due the pandemic, many businesses have closed, so exploring independently is definitely required.

If you like to bike ride, we are a short distance from the "Spring Water Corridor," a beautiful path just for bikes and pedestrians that leads to Oaks Bottom, a wild life refuge/bird watchers paradise and then finally to Oaks Park, the oldest amusement park in the country. They have a roller rink and host Portland's famous Roller Derby games. Check out (URL HIDDEN) for bikes rentable by the hour. You can pick them up just a few blocks away--21st and Clinton!

If you like nature and hikes, there is Mt. Tabor--it's really close, or a little further away is Forest Park and Washington Park. A little further still and you have the Columbia River Gorge with miles of hiking trails and waterfalls. Or you could adventure to Sauvie Island which boasts a nudie beach. (If you are into that sort of thing:) Sauvie Island also have a lot of farms--we go berry picking and to see bands play here in the summer time. In the fall, they have a haunted corn maze!

You should definitely check out North Portland while you are here. The Alberta Arts District and Mississippi Street are a short drive or a medium bike ride and have a lot of cool places to hang out. Also, in the summertime, Alberta hosts "Last Thursday" where they close off the street and let the freaks take over--definitely worth checking out.
