The farmhouse is a perfect base for family and friends going to the next door ski mountain Bear Creek. 1.6 miles away. The mountain has an excellent ski school for all levels and top notch snow making throughout the winter. If you need to be shuttled to the mountain, let us know when you make your reservation. The farmhouse is a perfect autumn, winter, spring, summer getaway. Escape to visit the local wineries which are abundant in the area. The farmhouse offers nearby activites throughout the year with something for everyone.

Located just down the road from Bear Creek Mountain Resort, this c. 1870 farmhouse is an ideal home base for getaways. Intimate and cozy, the farmhouse is set back on 9+ picturesque acres and is close to all sorts of sightseeing in the Lehigh Valley and the rural scenic farmland and hills of Berks County.
After a full day of sightseeing, come back to the cozy farm nestled in the hills where you can enjoy the use of a full kitchen for those who love to cook and entertain with friends and family. The front porch is set up with comfortable seating and a picnic table just a few feet away for 'al fresco' dining per season.
The farmhouse sleeps up to six people. The bedrooms have quality beds and white linens for a perfect restful vacation. From the all the windows are views upon views. The farmhouse is easy to get to from points east in New York and New Jersey via I-78; it is only 1.5 hours from New York City and one hour from Philadelphia. Lehigh Valley International Airport is 30 minutes away.
The farmhouse is an ideal location to stay when visiting the kids at university and college. Lafayette College, Lehigh University, Kutztown University, Desales University, Penn State Lehigh Valley, Moravian College, Muhlenberg College, Cedar Crest College are all within a 30 minute drive from the farm.
The farmhouse is a meeting of; old and new, country and city, people and farm animals. The farm is a romantic getaway, friends getting together away from the city, and family reuniting. Enjoy being on a farm with the amenities of quality bedding in three bedrooms, a fully stocked kitchen, dining room for six and sofa seating for six. The front porch almost always has a breeze and seems to be one of the popular common meeting places while staying at the farmhouse. Whether reading the morning newspaper with coffee or watching the sunset over a glass of wine the views upon views are never ending and soul soothing.
A wood stove in the livingroom adds to the warmth and charm of the farmhouse. In front of the farmhouse is a large firepit perfect even on a winter evening. Please ask for wood supply during your stay.
Arrive at the farmhouse and park in front of the picket fence on the circular driveway and enter the farmhouse through the mudroom where ski gear can be stored. If your stay happens while a snow fall happens, the driveway and walkways will be cleared immediately. The I-78 and other roads leading to the farm happen to be the first roads to be cleared after and during snow falls.
Guests have access to the entire farmhouse, front porch, wood stove, fire pit, charcoal grill, picnic table, feeding the sheep, and private walking trails around the farm. The farm is located 15 minutes away from Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom in the summer and minutes away from the slopes for skiing, boarding, snow tubing. Sheep grain $1 per bag. Firewood available $5/ bundle for the woodstove/firepit. Ask John for discounted lift tickets. Any more then 6 guests a port o potty rental is required at $106 fee. Event charges are $10 per guest for outdoor events and are pre-arranged and approved with John. Tent rentals available for rental as well. If you would like to have an outdoor event for example a picnic, reunion, wedding etc please arrange with John.
Upon arrival guests will be given an overview/walk through of the farmhouse when hosts are available otherwise access code will be given. Guests have the entire farmhouse for their use and privacy. Text, call with any questions or needs during your stay.
The farm has so many recreational/sightseeing opportunities throughout the year. Skiing, hiking, cycling, wineries, shopping, water park, community pools and more then anything...a restful setting on the farm.
Please enter the circular driveway from the right and park in front of the picket fence. Please give John the # of cars that will be arriving. Depending on arrival time~check with John for the lockbox combination. In any case the farmhouse keys can be taken and returned to the lockbox. The lockbox is located on the mudroom/side entrance to the farmhouse.
Upon check-in please read the house manual to familarize yourselves. Any questions please ask John. Call/Text anytime. During the summer the sheep have plenty of food grazing in the pastures. We will a lot one bowl of grain per day for coaxing purposes. Parents are responsible to ration supplied grain for duration of stay. Firewood is available at $5/bundle.
A reminded for parents with little ones. The pass through in the kitchen is convenient for conversations between the living room and kitchen. The sofa against the pass through needs TLC and we ask for parents to not allow their children to climb up/ sit on the top of the sofa.
Our guest height/date wall in the living room has exponentially expanded. Please add a name and date only and your artwork for the guest book.
The noise ordinance in Longswamp Township is 10PM. If you are outside, around the fire-pit late please remember.
Upon departure please remove towels into provided bins as well as trash/ recycling and place in exterior provided bins. Please leave the sheets on the beds. Please return all indoor and outdoor furniture to the position/ location as they were when you arrived. Smoking is permitted on the front porch, please use provided ashtray. The string lights can be turned on and off and there is a dimmer switch.
