*Large events weddings in general are not bookings we conduct through AirBnB. There's more that goes into booking a wedding venue then simply an AirBnB booking. Rates vary depending on number of guest and requirements such as event insurance, renting porta potties, caterers, photographers, on-site property manger for event, and more. Feel free to inquire through AirBnB if you have questions but the booking will be conducted outside this system.*

-**Filming - Contact us directly, like wedding this isn't a booking conducted through AirBnB. Be ready to provide commercial insurance with Joshua Desert Retreats mentioned as one of the insured, shoot time and duration, equipment planning to use list...and more. Again as weddings there is more that goes into allowing you to use our property for production also our rates vary depending on project and needs.**

A nice secluded place that is not fancy, but quiet and out of the way. It’s nice to watch the stars from the hot tub and have breakfast outside in the desert. Quick drive to the park (Indian Cove and Twentynine Palms entrance) if you’re climbing on the east side of the park or just visiting. The dishwasher is pretty underpowered, so expect to clean dishes by hand and the carpets could use a refreshing. Sheets are not the nicest if you’re used to slightly higher end. Nick is super responsive and very helpful. He left a roasting pan and extra foil for us, along with sparkling cider - since we were up for Thanksgiving; and was very quick to respond to questions. If you want quiet and out of the way and don’t need fancy, you’ll enjoy the place.

This place was beautiful and cozy! The outside swing was amazing! The location! The home! My entire family loved it and cannot wait to go back very soon !!!!!!!

Location: Great. Great desert view. Great view of the stars at night Host: Friendly Property: Falling apart and house was teeming with bugs. Furniture had bugs hiding under the pillow and crawling out from under the carpet. I dont know how many spiders I killed in two nights but it was definetly more than I had the patience for. Blister beetles and spiders were in the bed sheets and on the towels. One of the guys actually got blisters on his back and chest from one of those beetles that wound up in his bed. While pulling the bedsheets for check out, a large spider scurried out from under the sheets I was sleeping on. Backyard patio furniture were completely dilapidated, the bench was faling apart, and chairs were rusted beyond belief.. I dont know how anyone would think it would be OK for a guest to sit in one of those tetnus buckets. One of the backyard lights did not work and the restroom door did not close. House looked like it was just falling apart. I dont know how old those pictures in the ad are, but I can assure you they werent taken very recently. I'm sure the property was well deserving of the ratings it had 1 year ago, but I feel as though no one has taken care of this place since.

Godwin ranch is a beautiful spot. A group of us had an amazing weekend here over Easter - lots of lovely spots to chill and a hot tub under the stars :) Nick is a great host and i sure we will be returning one day soon

A stay at Godwin Ranch is always a wonderful recharge! Life is good.

Godwin Ranch is a great desert getaway! The place is comfortable and has nice outdoor space for lounging by a fire or swaying in a hammock. There is a gas grill and a well equipped kitchen for easy barbecuing. The house feels secluded, but it's close enough to town and to the National Park to let you keep busy. The pool is terrific. Unfortunately during our stay there was an issue with the hot tub (otherwise this review would be 5/5 stars), but Nick & everyone at Joshua Desert Retreats were very responsive and accommodating.

The place was very nice, comfortable with a lot of special touches. It was very relaxing and the pool (above ground) and jaccuzzi were nice as well as the outdoor hanging bed. The stars at night were spectacular. I gave it overall 4 stars because the place was so great and that is the most important thing when you get there. On to the check in and dealing with the host. This was the first time I had to sign an outside contract (not just the Airbnb agreement). It was 5 pages and they wanted a lot of personal information. I felt like I should have a lawyer review it, but did my best. It also felt very advisarial. They will charge you for every possible thing if you do something. $75 dollars if you don't leave the key (last time I made a key it was $2, so even $10 or $15 with the headache would be reasonable), $50 is you don't write in how much wood you used and $1.66 per log. There is a $100 cleaning fee, but if you don't leave it clean like you found it, they will charge you extra. I guess I paid $100 to wash the sheets and towels (seems excessive). The end result was a very nice weekend away, but the set up was stressful and it seems like they think their guests are criminals not guests. If I were giving stars for the house, it would get 4.5, if I were giving stars for the host and dealing with the business of renting it, I would give it 2 stars.
For potential guest looking to rent from us, yes our listing mentions we ask for a rental agreement to be signed in three locations so to not burden you after booking as if unexpected we require this information. Our agreement has been in use for over 20 years, we're not new to the vacation rental industry and found sites like AirBnB DO NOT cover all damages caused by a guest. We have lost many many thousands of dollars that the "HOST GUARANTEE" does not cover or is such a hassle that we now insist on our routine agreement is signed by all to not have to allow a third party dictate how we recoup damages caused by others on private property. Wish I could say our exchange with Motti was pleasant, seems the feeling is mutual. If you read further down into the reviews you'll see guest love me, Nick House, I can't begin to tell you how much as it will day a full day to read. But I assure you, I understand the agreement can be a hassle and do my best to streamline it when possible but when you're met with such resistance such as Motti I can understand where the frustration would come from. It truly is an easy process but if you want to make it hard that's for you to decide and entirely your decision to do so. Overall, Motti was a great guest no damage done besides leave me personally a bad review because he didn't read our listing details and entered into a requirement @ booking to sign an agreement. Sincerely, Nick House - Host - Guest Services

I grew up in Hawaii, so I know about being connected to the natural life force of the land. I bought my first house in this area 20 years ago to use as a getaway with family and friends. They all said, "You're from Hawaii; what are you doing in the desert?" But the desert is very…
