We had a great time at Zen Go. The views are spectacular and unobstructed for miles. Sunset and sunrise were particularly lovely. The place itself is great and the themed decor help to give it character. There are lots amenities provided, like the fire pit, ping pong, lawn and board games. The house would be great for a group of friends or family. Sadly it was too cold for a dip in the pool, but I imagine that would be great on a hot day. The kitchen is well-stocked and you makes it easy to eat in. As tea-drinkers, a more useable kettle would've been good although the Japanese-style one looked nice.

We arrived to the home and were welcomed with AC, drinking water and Jazz music playing lightly in the background. The ambiance is relaxing and our host provided the essentials listed. Our overall experience with the home was positive & I recommend to anyone staying in the Joshua Tree area.

Great getaway! Loved the house, great outdoor space with games. Nights under the stars! Smooth check-in and communication. Had an awesome stay.

Nick was such a great host. He made communication and the entire booking process so easy. This house is spacious and great for large groups. The only negative I would say is that there is only 1 bathroom and it is quite small. We loved the seclusion on the 5 acres and rented 2 other properties with Nick in addition to this one and this was great for everyone from all 3 houses to congregate at. Plenty of wood available and the fire pit was marvelous. Pool is not heated but not really a negative, you just need to be aware. Our group had an unforgettable trip!

The place was spacious enough to hold 9 girls. We definitely had enough privacy and the pool was awesome but it was too cold (?) There was a fire pit that we definitely utilized, we brought our own wood but the price they charge for their wood would have been worth it because they had large logs to use. Overall a fun time.

We had a great time at Zen-Go. The house is very remote, but there are a few other places visible in the area, which made it feel safe but still private. The views are incredible 360 degrees. The sunset was unreal to witness. At night, the stars come out so bright and vast that it feels like you are under a huge dome. It's wonderful. The home itself is very clean and well-stocked with linens and kitchen ware. All the furnishings were nice and clean. Aside from a few issues that I will list below, Zen-Go was great and I would stay there again. The few problems: - The photos provided here seem to be out of date, as some of the things we were expecting/looking forward to were not actually there (ie the round chairs by the fire pit, shown in the gallery here). - We arrived after dark and there were a few lights on which was good, but also some sort of creepy music playing both in and outside the house, which was a little scary and made our first night there feel a little strange. I don't know if this was intentional or not. - The water, particularly the hot water, smelled VERY strongly of sulfur. We contacted the house manager who told us that it was still safe to use and we were able to take showers, but the entire house filled with the very strong and unpleasant smell afterwards. We were told that this is not always the case and the recent heat was the cause. Regardless, it was really unpleasant, and definitely the biggest drawback of the house. Aside from these small issues, the house is everything you could ask for in a rental vacation home: stocked with essentials and very clean. The hosts were also very communicative and helpful when we needed them for anything.

The property was interesting, it's down a long dirt road in 29 Palms, East of Joshua Tree and was very remote, quiet and private. The ping-pong sun room was great, so was the hammock and firepit out front for hanging out at night. Nick was able to accommodate a late checkout for us at departure which we appreciated.

I grew up in Hawaii, so I know about being connected to the natural life force of the land. I bought my first house in this area 20 years ago to use as a getaway with family and friends. They all said, "You're from Hawaii; what are you doing in the desert?" But the desert is very much like Hawaii; nature has been supported, not paved over. I soon started to rent out that house, buy others in the area, and now I own 14 desert homes that I rent out through my company, Joshua Desert Retreats. This area has become a destination for artists, but it seems like everyone in Southern California at one time or another growing up has gone camping in Joshua Tree National Park, so we get a lot of ex-campers, too. These house's technically isn't in any town, and getting to some requires driving along a dirt road. The town of Twentynine Palms is home to the main entrance of Joshua Tree National Park and only 15 minutes away from any of the properties.
