Welcome to The Lodge at Cannery Estate!

This former artist's studio has been reimagined as a 1,500 sf open-concept space with 18-foot ceilings incorporating aspects of contemporary, rustic and farmhouse styles. It is located on the grounds of a 5-acre estate on Alsea Bay.

Enjoy our private beaches, pavilion with outdoor kitchen & fireplace, 8-person spa, firepit, gazebo, creek, pond & She-Shed. Watercraft (Hydro-bikes, kayaks and a paddle boat with a canopy and cooler) are available.

空間
It is hard to describe how special this location is. The Alsea people named this area "peace" or "paradise" and it is easy to see why. The location is incredibly private, yet only minutes to town. It rests in a microclimate that is generally 10 degrees warmer than oceanfront, and is largely protected from the harsh winds that can hit the Oregon Coast. Many days, I am driving in fog on the 101 and head down the driveway to sunshine and mild weather.

There are daily sightings of harbor seals, river otters, herons and sea birds including cormorants. Two adults and one juvenile bald eagle nest on the property. A pod of Orcas was recently spotted! Salmon, Dungeness Crabs and clams are plentiful in the waters surrounding the home.

There are also bunnies, chipmunks, squirrels, numerous wild birds, and nutrias, not to mention our pack of knuckleheads, who LOVE meeting new friends, then getting back to their full-time jobs of sleeping and guarding the shoreline from marauding ducks and harbor seals.

If you love wildlife and ever changing views, this magical spot is hard to beat.

Please note, although the listing shows three bedrooms, there is really only one private bedroom on the second floor with vaulted ceilings, a private sitting area, a work area, a children's reading nook tucked under an eave, and a king bed. The other sleeping spaces are a cedar sleeping loft with handcrafted stairs, railings, and safety gate, and a queen bed with a 10" premium memory foam mattress. Tucked away in a second sitting area there is a sleeper sofa with a plush double Serta mattress that provides a cozy sleeping space under a vintage shiplap roof.

This historic site was an Alsea fishing village for thousands of years, and in the mid-1800s became the original settlement of Waldport, with a ferry landing, general store, post office and cannery. The settlement burnt to the ground in 1915, and the cannery owner's daughter built an estate on the bay in 1926. The pilings of the cannery and ferry landing can still be seen on our property, and ruins of more of the original settlement can still be seen if you walk along the shore to the ocean.

The Lodge was formerly the studio and shop of a jewelry designer and copper artist. We transformed it into an open concept space with gorgeous water views from both levels.

Please note that the property is waterfront, and that in the gardens in the back there are a creek and pond. For that reason, younger children should not be left unattended when outdoors.

We are in residence at the main house property part of the year with our pets. Your privacy and enjoyment of the property is our priority.

We look forward to welcoming you to our little slice of paradise!

旅人進出權限
Our guests may enjoy the private beaches (at low tides), the pavilion with an outdoor kitchen and wood burning fireplace, the new 8-person spa, the tranquil creekside She-shed, the large waterfront firepit watched over by our Driftwood Dragon, and a waterfront gazebo with views of the Alsea Bay Bridge. A great spot for a picnic!

Kayaks, Hydro bikes and a 5-person paddle boat are available to use, or bring your own! There is also a kayak launch for easy access.

其他注意事項
Please, do not smuggle in your pups! We have had a couple of guests do this recently.

We will see that your dog is here against our house rules, but more important is your fur child’s safety. We live on the property part of the year with our four friendly Rottweilers. They are gentle, extremely social, and love to come greet our guests, but, as all dogs, they are territorial in their home.

They have been fine and friendly with all the dogs they have encountered, but we can’t take a chance on the safety of your fur baby.

All of our other listings are extremely pet friendly, so if you like this home and want a recommendation for one of our other wonderful listings, please do not hesitate to contact me. Pets are also allowed if you rent the entire estate

The cleaning fee includes the home itself and the spa. We generally do not supply firewood for the firepit or outdoor fireplace, so you may wish to stock up. There is a convenience store just north on the 101 where you can buy bundles of firewood.

The Community Fee is Lincoln County's 10% lodging fee that we collect from guests and remit to them.

There is a good but pricey grocery store five minutes from the house. We suggest if you want to just be able to relax and enjoy the property, to order online at Fred Meyers a couple of days prior to your arrival, then stop on the way to the property (there are stores to the north and south in Newport and Florence) and have the groceries delivered to your car. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you should need, but if there is something you DO need, please let me know as I may have it in the main house.

While you are welcome to park in your own driveway, many of our guests prefer to park on the lawn to the left of the driveway so as not to block the incredible views.

This is an amazing location. It was used as a fishing village by the Alsea people for thousands of years. It became the original settlement of Waldport in the mid-1800s, and housed a cannery, post office, general store and the ferry landing.

The pilings from the cannery still exist along some of our beaches, and if you head west at low tide (towards the bridge and the ocean) you can explore ruins of the former settlement, as well as waterfalls and fern gullies. Please use caution if exploring the ruins.

We have a unique microclimate here that often keeps us warm and sunny even when the coast is fogged in. In general, we are 10 degrees warmer than the oceanfront and do not experience as many of the high winds that the beach gets due to our protected location.

I am a real estate broker and investor. I enjoyed a 30 year career in commercial real estate and asset management. In 2000, I started my own commercial real estate company, and eventually owned two commercial brokerage and property management companies in San Diego. My husband Roy and I moved to a small Oregon town in 2013. When we lived in San Diego, we purchased a French Victorian home in the charming gold rush town of Julian California, about an hour outside San Diego. We loved it so much that we turned it into a vacation rental so other dog parents could vacation in the mountains with their pups. It was a beloved vacation home, with guests returning year after year. A movie was filmed onsite, and we have many wonderful memories from our time there. We decided to repeat that great experience, and I have been buying and renovating homes on the Oregon coast since 2015. I am so lucky to be doing what I love to do. While the sales process is going on, I haunt my favorite thrift and consignment stores looking for wonderful pieces that I can restore for use in our vacation rentals. We always buy some items new: mattresses, linens, TVs, appliances, etc., but I love the character and unique personality that a stunning vintage item provides. I also love restoring furniture. During the renovation process, I live in the house. This is both so I can work on the property, and even more importantly, get a feel for the house and the neighborhood. I get to know my neighbors, the mailman, meet the neighborhood pups and their owners, and see what time each day the sun shines into different rooms. The house and I begin to communicate. Through the renovation and design process, I get a deep sense of the home and the neighborhood. When we are done, the property gets a name. The names are indicative of both the location and the nature of the home. Yaquina Bay Club is serene and elegant, while Yaquina Surf Camp is fun and funky. Once the property goes on the vacation rental market, I make it a point to stay at each of my homes at least once a quarter. It is important to see things from a guest’s perspective, so that our homes continue to be places where wonderful memories are made. Since I have lived in and renovated each home, these are definitely more than investments. These are homes I have lived in and love, and I hopethat comes through to our guests. It is also fascinating to see the difference in these homes from the time we buy them to what they are today. Most of the homes that we purchase are foreclosures, estate sales, distressed sales, etc. All of them sat sad, vacant and unloved for a long time. When I first walk through a distressed home, it feels cold and forlorn. Now the homes are happy, cared for and loved, and you can feel it the moment you walk in the door. Some are calm and serene, some are classic beach family fun, but all are happy and welcoming. I would live in any of these homes in a heartbeat. I guess that's why I bought them in the first place. But I really love sharing them with our guests and their friends and families. Welcome! About I am a San Diego native, entrepreneur and Mom who moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2013. I love it here, and am grateful my husband was game for a new adventure. I have two wonderful kids who are successfully forging their own paths in life, with partners I love and am thrilled to have as part of our family. I live on the gorgeous Oregon coast. I love traveling, and have spent a lot of time in Italy, with plans to travel more in the future as our lives become less hectic. I love real estate, renovation and design. I also love thrifting and finding awesome pieces to go into our vacation homes. I have been able to combine all these passions over the last five years buying, renovating and staging our vacation rental homes. Although each home is unique, they all share casual luxury, character, unique vintage pieces, a sense of place, and an attention to detail that makes each one a great home away from home for you and your family. My husband Roy and I share our home with our fur children, four Rottweilers and an entitled Bombay cat. They love people, and are always excited to meet our Waldport guests when we are at the other house on the property. I have been a host for 10 years, and love welcoming guests and future friends into our homes. Thanks for stopping by. We hope to welcome you soon. Best, Lauri Hines

Whether we are here or not, we are available to our guests at any time - text is fastest. When we are here, we respect your privacy, but are here to help.

We have raised our four Rottweilers from pups (two brother and sister pairs), and they don't just love people, they LOOOOVE people. We usually try to do a quick intro with our guests so the dogs can say "hello", and after that they are back to their usual jobs of sleeping or protecting the shoreline from invading ducks or menacing river otters.

We know that some people are not (crazy) dog people, and we respect that. Please let us know if there are any concerns, or members of your group who are not comfortable around dogs, and we will make every effort to accommodate you. Your comfort and relaxation are our priorities.
