This big apartment set in the heart of Happy Valley is a few minutes' walk to the bars, restaurants, racetrack and tram terminus. The room has a comfy bed, and you have access to the living area, kitchen and lovely private rooftop. Plus friendly hosts!!
The living area and bedrooms are large for Hong Kong, and the private rooftop is an incredible space where you can dine, drink, play music or just enjoy soaking it all in.
Guests have access to the shared kitchen (limited cooking capability) and living area of the flat, as well as the private bedroom. The living area has comfortable couches, a large television with DVD player, and hundreds of DVDs.
The bathroom has a full tub/shower combination.
My roommates and I love to spend time with our guests, and, to be honest, that is the reason I host on AirBnB. I really enjoy sharing Hong Kong with visitors, because I feel like I love this city most when I share it with others. Of course, I do have a full time job Monday through Friday, which somewhat limits my availability during the day. On the weekends, however, I have much more free time to spend with my guests.
I would say I manage a pretty social apartment. With three bedrooms, I normally have a combination of AirBnB guests and roommates, plus myself and the dog. So while you can rest assured that you'll have privacy in your bedroom, the common areas of the flat are very much shared. I am also fond of hosting gatherings, especially on the roof, so you're always more than welcome to interact with our group of friends and meet a bevy of interesting people from all corners of the globe!
Fair warning: our apartment is located on the fifth floor of an old-fashioned Chinese tong lau, evocative of the bygone Hong Kong of the 50s and 60s. The building has no elevator, and in American parlance, we would call it a six-floor walk-up.
I also have a two year old pooch named Fredric, who will also be sharing the space. He's super friendly and affectionate, but does like to chew on socks, pillows, shoes and the like.
Guests are free to use all amenities of the flat, including the kitchen, common living area and private rooftop terrace. We ask that they respect our property and our neighbors. (And please only smoke on the rooftop, not in the apartment itself!)
