16bis Rue de Vieux Ceret is a spacious three-storey house within the old town walls, with 2 double bedrooms plus mezzanine bed, 2.5 bathrooms and large rooftop terrace. Although it's in the heart of Ceret town where there is lots of action, it is incredibly quiet and peaceful.
I only rent my house by the week or more in the spring and summer.

The calendar prices are misleading because the spring rate is about €500 per week and in the summer €700 per week. That's for the entire second and third floors which has the living areas plus 2 double bedrooms and the mezzanine.

Once two townhouses, this 16th Century maison de ville has been classically refurbished while retaining the French traditional features like stone coving, wooden ceiling beams and the original terracotta floor tiles. Guests will enjoy 2 floors plus a rooftop terrace.The first floor consists of a modern kitchen, dining room and living room with air conditioning, satellite, flat-screen TV, DVD player with many DVDs, and portable fans for warm weather .The top floor has sleeping accommodation in two double bedrooms, each with a balcony and ceiling fan. There is also a spacious mezzanine area with a bed, Internet and air conditioning. Newly renovated, there is a separate WC with wash handbasin and bath/shower room on this floor plus an automatic washing machine. There is also a shower/toilet/ wash handbasin on the entrance floor. You will be delighted with the panoramic views from the spacious rooftop terrace.

Mobility-impaired visitors might like to rent the ground floor suite with double sofabed, kitchenette, fridge and bathroom with walk-in shower.
There is WiFi throughout the house, French TV and satellite TV with all BBC, Irish and Sports channels.
The large roof tewrrace is readily accessible and is not overlooked.

There is a large farmers' market on Saturdays so parking is limited. During the summer there is an artisans' market on Tuesday evenings. There will be a bullfight festival mid-July and a sardane dance festival in the third week of July. See Ceret Tourist office website for details. If you have a car you will certainly enjoy a visit to the Salvadore Dali Museum in Figueres, Spain, an hour south, or to Barcelona two hours away. Closer to Ceret you can enjoy a trip on the unique Yellow Train which is one of the famous Train Journeys of the World.

Nestled in the foothills of the French Pyrenees, Ceret is the perfect location for a relaxing, cultured stay. Within its winding streets and squares lies my 16th Century house. It was built as part of the original walled city consisting of the Church and two curved cobblestone streets. Guests enjoy exploring this delightfully shady, yet bustling town. The bakery opens at 7am and is 30 seconds away from my house. From the Easter Procession to the Cherry Festival in June, there is always plenty to see and do in Ceret itself. You will certainly enjoy the fountains, cafe terraces, the Museum of Modern Art, buskers, public swimming pool, bullring, sports grounds and the busy Saturday and Tuesday evening artisan markets.You will especially enjoy the tranquil delights of strolling the winding cobblestone streets of Ceret , dining al fresco in the many nearby restaurants, attending classical concerts in the nearby Church and music college, and hiking in the hills overlooking the town. The public swimming pool in Ceret is open during July and August. There is a water adventure playground at St. Jean Lakes, 10 minutes from Ceret.

I love to travel and have done so since 1968. My wings were clipped while I had my 5 children but when they grew up I took off again to Central America and Africa. I was lucky to work in Beijing for two years before I retired and then I taught in China for 2 terms. I only heard about Airbnb when I was backpacking and hosteling around China, Burma and North Korea in the Spring of 2014. I have had my big house in Ceret for 12 years and I have really enjoyed renovating it to make it comfortable for guests. Now I would like them to rent it while I am in Ireland. I am confident that my house manager, a Ceret local, will take care of any needs that may arise. My only advice to my children was "Follow your dream!" and they have done so. Now I am living my dream - travelling a lot, listening to world music, reading about world cultures, blogging about my travels, providing an immigration consultancy to Chinese immigrants in Ireland, doing gender analysis - and popping back and forth from Dundalk to Ceret. My French is improving and I can speak some Spanish and a little Mandarin.
