Important: Check-in is no earlier than 2PM and check out is no later than noon. We often have other guests immediately before or after your stay. Exceptions to these times are granted rarely in exigent circumstances Requests may be made to Nicole and Miik, our caretakers, but please respect their decision if they cannot accommodate you, as they have many duties and it can be difficult to alter the schedule. We cannot promise early check-in or late check out at the time of booking.
We are sorry but we have changed our policy and no longer allow pets. While many pets were just fine, we just have had too many issues with pets not being properly managed, and the wear and tear on the property is not acceptable. Please understand that everyone says their pet is wonderful and obedient, but the sad fact is that is not true in some cases and we have no way of differentiating.
Please do not rent the property for any business type activity. For example, as a paid photo or movie shoot location, to conduct any sort of business party where goods or services are sold, or any other similar type activity. If you are planning to entertain beyond the group staying at the house, please let us know in advance so we can discuss it.
We have a land line phone at the house which is OK to use for local calls only. You are responsible for any extra charges beyond your stay we will seek to collect them from the deposit if necessary. Cell phone service is available at the house, but can be a little spotty depending on your carrier.
We allow parties and events with prior permission. There may be an additional charge. Please inquire.
My dream after working over 25 in the Food Business was to raise my families food (as much as possible) on a family farm. After searching for the best location, my husband found Strawfield. My first step, was a 9 month certified program on organic farming, at the Greenbank Farm. This gave me the confidence to start with our own field and the first flock of chickens.
My interest in preserving foods, jams, pickles and other condiments lead me to plant a plot of raspberries, a variety of table grapes, a small orchard and as many herbs that will grow on the island. For color and bouquets we planted roses and a slope of Italian Lavender. These goods were then sold in the Farm stand, which our Son built.
I added ducks & guinea hens. We also were able to raise pigs, turkeys & goats in past years.
The warmth of the house is from all our family and friends who have shared from the bounty of the field, ocean and wonderful surrounding farms.
We hope you find the beauty of the Island peaceful.
