Our son, Carlos Knox, is our farm manager, and lives on the property in a separate suite in our barn building. He is there to help you as needed with arrangements. If available, some fresh eggs may be collected. Enjoy! We alos have a family living in the separate cottage on the property, who help us with farming and keeping the place up, as well as cleaning the house for our guests after teir stay (we do not offer cleaning mid-stay).
Please also understand that as a large property, there are things that have to get done every day including feeding and watering the animals, mowing and garden watering, etc. so to do not be surprised to see Carlos or one of the other workers out on the grounds doing chores during the day. They will of course respect your privacy in the house and avoid disturbances whenever possible, especially in the early morning and evening.
There is a wonderful fireplace in the house and firewood is available or you can bring your own. There is also an outdoor firepit for evening enjoyment. There is a propane BBQ. See the House Manual for more info.

My dream after working over 25 in the Food Business was to raise my families food (as much as possible) on a family farm. After searching for the best location, my husband found Strawfield. My first step, was a 9 month certified program on organic farming, at the Greenbank Farm. This gave me the confidence to start with our own field and the first flock of chickens.
My interest in preserving foods, jams, pickles and other condiments lead me to plant a plot of raspberries, a variety of table grapes, a small orchard and as many herbs that will grow on the island. For color and bouquets we planted roses and a slope of Italian Lavender. These goods were then sold in the Farm stand, which our Son built.
I added ducks & guinea hens. We also were able to raise pigs, turkeys & goats in past years.
The warmth of the house is from all our family and friends who have shared from the bounty of the field, ocean and wonderful surrounding farms.
We hope you find the beauty of the Island peaceful.
