So many wonderful things to do and see here. The national park is 7 miles away. During the summer The island is a bustle of visitors..Island explorer busses are accessible from the Oceanarium. There is Kayaking biking hiking, boat trips, (URL HIDDEN) the winter the park is open to cross country skiers and snowshoeing, and I belive snowmobiles(need to look that up)
In the winter there is oil heat and the caretaker who lives on site keeps the wood stove in the basement cozy, and the paths shoveled (flat driveway gets plowed) and she is available to assist guests with any needs that may arise.
We are just down the street from the Oceanarium( open seasonally). And up the street is several lobster pounds and the most glorious sunsets!! Across the street lives the best local clam and mussel harvester! One can still get live lobsters and other seafood from the Trenton bridge pound on the winter months.
The island explorer busses can be caught 1/2mile up or at Oceanarium by special request. The busses hold your bikes on too. Ride bike up to bus stop.
I have about 30 pets a summer come with guests. Mostly dogs. Almost every one is fine, and understand that the chickens are usually loose in the yard.
The cabin is surrounded by 7 acres of a boreal forest with the farm up at the road. The guests are invited to wander about and meet the chickens. Bethany lives up in the front house.
The whole upstairs of the cabin is for guests to enjoy. This cabin has every amenity of the business ready rental: soaps towels linens, open door checkin with a key and a personal welcome note. The only difference is that we do have pets on the premises and over 80% of my guests bring pets.
There is a washer and dryer in the basement for guests to use. The rest of the basement is storage for tools and supplies. There is plenty of parking in front of a two bay garage.
Guests are asked to park anywhere in the gravel driveway and not on the lawn.
The kitchen has an assortment of most condiments and paper towels and seran wrap..and the bathroom has towels, soaps, shampoos toilet paper, bandaids, feminine needs.
The Beds are made up with sheets and blankets, pillows. Flannel blankets in the winter if requested!!
In the winter Bethany is in charge of the wood stove in the basement and keeps the house at a cozy temp, perfect for drying out after being out in the cold! Because of insurance coverage, guests are not allowed to manage the wood stove. But there is also oil heat should any need arise.
Bethany does the shoveling and there is a plow guy that keeps the flat driveway clear and easy to navigate.
There is a caretaker who lives on site. Who is available to assist guests with check in and check out and other needs that may arise. The cabin it self is set behind the farm adding a secluded feeling with just the woods.. one can not see the neighbors, just the farm and gardens and vernal pond. Where one can often see ducks and a great blue heron in the mornings.
This winter we are thrilled to have snow shoes and a sled for guests to use! This is a working farm and art studio up front. Fresh eggs and vegetables in season. Well behaved Dogs and other pets are welcome. Pet urine and damage will incur extra charge.
We hope our guests enjoy this relaxing cabin and leave the premises in the condition they found it.
We have a nice collection of games and children books we are happy to share and ask that parents PLEASE monitor their children with the games so that pieces do not get lost or damaged. This summer some guests left the games disarrayed and missing pieces...
There is no smoking allowed in house. Please smoke outside if needed.
We recycle and compost all organic food products from coffee grounds to paper towels meat scraps.
