Allez-y !
We were delighted with our ten day stay at Guido's Il Pollaio in the Mugello region of Tuscany. The "hen house" has been splendidly converted into a simple yet charming holiday home. It suited our needs perfectly (family of four , two boys 11 and 8) - relaxing days playing and reading by the pool interspersed with outings to Stia, Scarperia, Florence etc. - and always starting and ending the day enjoying the breathtaking views from our secluded terrace. We loved the peace and quiet - one hot and busy visit to the glorious town of Florence aside - and although we saw little of Guido, his mother Paula was on hand to give us helpful tips regarding local amenities and attractions. She spoke excellent english and gave us a tremendously warm welcome. We felt very much at home!! The house is part of a large estate with two other holiday apartments. We occasionally met the other guests at the pool but we had a pleasant seclusion in our little corner of the garden. The typical tourist regions of Tuscany are definitely not on the doorstep but this in itself was another big attraction for us !! (However it was handy to be able to take the train into Florence.) We hope to return to Il Pollaio. It was our first experience of Italy with the family and our first trip with Airbnb. A perfect beginning . Many thanks Guido and Paula.
We spent a really enjoyable 10 days staying at Il Pollaio. Beautiful views which we enjoyed eating al fresco for breakfast, lunch and in the evening. The four of us (including two children 8 & 5) were initially attracted to the interestingly restored agricultural building - when we got there it was exactly as we expected - intelligently designed so that each view was a lovely composition that captured the special light. The swimming pool was a 2 minute walk through the amazing collection of buildings that make up the Fattoria, the main building a few centuries old, so it is really interesting. Nearby Londa, a 5 minute drive down the hill, had everything we needed. A day trip to Firenze was very simple and we were back in good time to enjoy the sunset. Our children met and played with other children who were staying which was an added bonus. I'd recommend Il Pollaio to anyone wishing to have a lovely holiday in a great little building with excellent views.
