Our contemporary yurt offers stunning views of the Taw Valley.
With a beautiful separate kitchen and a bathroom with a drawbridge wall, this is a unique + romantic space for two.
The yurt is kitted out a wood burning stove and there is even wifi.
We have built this yurt using wood harvested from the farm. The kitchen, bathroom and loo have all been built using recycled or upcycled materials.
The bathroom is an original vintage cast iron bath.
Towels and bedding are provided for your stay.
There is a family run restaurant at the farm called Weirmarsh Farm Restaurant which is open in the evenings on Fridays and Saturdays only. Pre booking is essential as is pre ordering. To book, call (phone number hidden) or contact Leila or Max and we will happily do this for you.
We will supply you with plenty of logs for your trip for a super cosy stay.
The yurt is private and has access down the field from the main farm for total privacy. There is also access to the river which is great for a swim or a skinny dip in the summer.
Max and I can be available to show you down to the yurt, or we can leave clear instructions on access if you would rather.
Chaps please pee sitting down or al fresco on the grass. The sawdust is purely for the solid waste hole only - do not use in the urine separator.
For the TV, turn on with the larger remote and switch the digi box on with the smaller remote. The TV is then controlled by the smaller remote - press EPG for the guide and to change the channel.
For the drawbridge wall on the bathroom:
It's a bit of a Heath Robinson invention and is a two-man job.
Whilst one person is on the winch on the back of the shed, the other person gives the wall a little nudge on the inside of the bathroom.
The wall will lower to rest on the ground.
When lifting the wall-initially due to its weight someone will use the winch and someone may have to help lift the wall to start it off back up.
If you wish to use the BBQ, please clean well after use.
Gents, please don't pee in the compost loo unless you would like to sit for the performance. It's solid waste only in there but there is a pee separator for ladies - and gents that like to sit :) Otherwise it's alfresco pees!
PLEASE DO NOT PUT SAWDUST IN THE URINE SEPARATOR - SAW DUST IS FOR THE LARGER HOLE ONLY.
Smoking is fine but to be kept outside of all indoor and enclosed areas (i.e yurt, kitchen and bathroom).
Please keep all gates closed into the fields and outside the yurt area.
We are a young(ish) couple from North Devon. Max grew up on a farm where we built our yurt that we now rent out on Air BnB. It was our first home together where we lived from 2012.
We run three renewable companies from the farm and needed a tranquil spot of our own to rest our heads after work.
The first winter was interesting and not one we repeated! I think the lowest temperature we registered was -11 over Christmas. It was strangely romantic at the time but we were a bit younger then.
Hence the yurt is now up from March-September.
We then bought our first flat in 2013 and based ourselves mainly there (also now on Air BnB) to get a little distance from work.
We love to travel and explore new places. We have had some fantastic trips and have used Air BnB ourselves many times.
We live in Ilfracombe pretty much full-time as we love to be by the sea and there are some fantastic places to eat. We have a ton of local knowledge so feel free to pick our brains.
As hosts, it's all about the little touches for us. We try and provide a really personal service and have really enjoyed this first summer renting out our first homes. They mean so much to us and we really want to create a homely, romantic and relaxing vibe for our guests. We hope we are succeeding and look forward to welcoming you into our homes.
