Enora, it is unfortunate that you seem to have had such difficulty with your stay, as it was also very, very unfortunate to return to my home after your stay and have every room, linen, rug, piece of furniture smell like cigarette smoke.
Much of this feedback is new to us as we've actually achieved Super Host status and have never had such a negative review. We are quite clear in the description that there will be noise from the street that can be heard from the living room, as the neighborhood and block have restaurants and nightlife - but this is the reason people typically stay in the East Village.
We have never had a complaint about the light in the bedroom, or the sound in the apartment. Please note, there are curtains, just not blackout curtains. It is an old building and the radiator does make noise at times (although rarely). As this has been brought to our attention now for the first time, we will call it out on the listing for future guest who might have difficulty with sleep. While we are typically not in NY when we share our home with the AirBnB community, we do have a handy person and a cleaning person on call. Had we known about the issues you were having, we would have gladly sent someone to resolve them. Last, we are adults and have adult friends who do not show up unannounced. If that did happen at 10pm, it was a random occurrence by a stranger.
For future guests who may read this, please understand the context that this guest chose to write us an unfairly negative review only after we confronted her about the smell of smoke in our home. Enora even went as far as to tell us in a private note that this review is more harsh, in response to our asking if she had been smoking in our home. We certainly aren't perfect, but do have respect for our guest and the AirBnB community and further, love our home, quirks and all. We would encourage you to read the other reviews, and rest assured that any of smaller issues noted here have been resolved. Cheers.
