Welcome to Chapel Cottage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Chapel Cottage is a beautiful Grade II listed cottage, which dates back to the 17th century, and is located in the heart of the picturesque village of Bourton-on-the-Water. Known as the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’, due to the River Windrush that flows peacefully though the village, Bourton has an abundance of attractions, including Birdland, the Cotswold Motor Museum, and the Model Village. There are also a wide range of traditional pubs, shops and restaurants, making Bourton perfect for guests of all ages. The village is surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside, and the many picturesque market towns and villages of the Cotswolds are all within easy reach, as are further afield places, such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Bath. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Chapel Cottage is a semi-detached cottage, located just off Bourton’s High Street. The front door is accessed via the cottage’s front garden, and opens directly into the living room, with the following rooms on the ground floor: Living/dining room: This characterful room has exposed oak beams, stone mullion windows, and a large Cotswold stone inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove. There is a three seater and a two seater leather sofa plus a leather pouff, as well as a pretty window seat.Other facilities include a Smart TV with Netflix access, and a DAB radio with an iPod docking station. The dining area has a lovely flagstone floor, and contains an antique wooden dining table with four chairs and a window seat, which overlooks the front garden; Kitchen: A doorway leads through to the country-style kitchen, which overlooks the garden. This well presented room has an electric oven, four ring gas hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle and toaster. There is a stable door out from the kitchen to the courtyard garden at the back of the cottage. A steep, winding staircase leads up from the living room to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Bedroom 1: A lovely room with whitewashed stone walls and oak beams, which contains a double bed, a chest of drawers with a mirror, and hooks to provide hanging space; Bedroom 2: Another stylish room, which contains a king size bed, and hooks to provide hanging space; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with overhead shower, toilet and wash basin. Further steep, winding stairs lead up to the second floor room: Snug/bedroom 3: This room is a perfect hideaway in the lovely eaves of the cottage, complete with Freeview TV and DVD player, plus a selection of DVDs, books and games. The room contains a day bed, which can be made up into a single bed. At the front of the cottage is a pretty, gravelled garden, with a stylish wrought iron table and chairs, which is ideal for making the most of the morning sun. The stable door from the kitchen opens out into the private courtyard garden at the rear of the cottage, which also has an outdoor table and chairs, and captures the late afternoon sun. The back garden has a useful outbuilding, which contains a washing machine and a tumble dryer. There is a 30-minute parking zone directly opposite the cottage, which is ideal for loading and unloading luggage, and two Pay & Display car parks are located a short walk away from the cottage.
Bourton-on-the-Water is arguably one of the most popular villages of the Cotswolds, especially amongst overseas visitors. Having been nicknamed the "Venice of the Cotswolds", its scenery is the main draw for travellers. The River Windrush meanders through beautiful English countryside before passing over rapids next to the Old Mill and arriving at Bourton. The river is fed from many springs, with the source approximately ten miles from the village and, after flowing under the bridges of Bourton, it passes other villages before eventually joining the Thames. There are various attractions in the village, including the famous Birdland, which is home to a variety of birds from around the world. Here visitors can see parrots, pelicans, flamingos and penguins to name just a few, with experienced keepers feeding the birds and leading demonstrations. The Model Village is well worth a visit, as Bourton is the only village in the Cotswolds to have a one-ninth scale replica of itself. It is carefully maintained and has all of the characterful buildings including the Old Water Mill and the Old New Inn. Those lucky enough to witness snow in the winter months will notice photographers at the model village trying to get the perfect picture of the snowy scene. Another family favourite is the Dragonfly Maze. This yew maze leads visitors through the labyrinth, gathering clues in order to find the pavilion in the centre which enables them to unlock the final secret! The maze was constructed by Kit Williams, author of the golden hare treasure hunt book, "Masquerade". Food & Drink Bourton has a variety of places to eat and drink, including cafes, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants, with a range of prices to suit all budgets. The list below is a small sample of the options available: The Chester House Hotel and The Croft Restaurant (www.chesterhousehotel.com): Breakfast, morning coffee, lunches and evening meals in a riverside restaurant. You can enjoy freshly prepared, local produce throughout the day and night, with seasonal specials added to the menu daily. The Duke of Wellington (www.dukeofwellingtonbourton.co.uk): A local village inn aiming to provide fresh home cooked food with a friendly service. There is a light snacking menu, a full menu and a wonderful range of desserts and hot beverages. As well as daily home cooked specials, on Sundays you can enjoy a traditional carvery with all the trimmings from 12-6pm. The Mousetrap Inn (www.mousetrap-inn.com): A traditionally run Cotswold stone Inn, with a history dating back to the building of the railways in the 18th Century. Serving home-made food, along with fantastic, locally brewed real ales. The Village Restaurant & Tearooms (www.thevillagerestaurant.co.uk): Traditional, home cooked food in a friendly atmosphere, overlooking the river Windrush, in the heart of Bourton-on-the-Water.

An en-suite room in a 400 years old traditional English farm house, cosy and nice, breakfast included. Over 1000 excellent reviews! Long-term committed hosts, close to popular wedding venues like Lapstone, Charingworth Manor, Mickleton Hills Farm
Would you like to experience authentic rural England ? There is not a better location than an old Saxon hamlet originally listed in the Domesday Book in the picturesque rolling hills of the North Cotswolds. There is not a better place there than a room in our 17 century farm house with its original features - beamed ceilings, inglenook fireplace, AGA cooker. Our house imaginatively called 'The Old House', was built just after the chaos caused locally by the English Civil War in the second half of the seventeenth century. It has been updated a little since then though. This is a place for those who appreciate and respect the "old". This listing is for our Yellow Room with its own en-suite on a B&B basis. Please note this is a smaller room and if you like to a more spacious room with a bigger bed, check our other listing. Free parking and free Wi-Fi available.
Hidcote Boyce is a typical small cotswold village - it has not materially changed for the last three to four hundred years. This makes it relatively unique in a rapidly changing world.

Hidcote Boyce near Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire, 英國

Come to our spotlessly clean cottage, up a long driveway, totally private and peaceful and relax in peace and total comfort and peace of mind. You will be able to arrive without any checkin, no contact with anyone, and you can relax in the middle of the most beautiful countryside location. In the middle of nowhere!. Discover the local beautiful Cotswold area. On our doorstep is Chipping Campden and Moreton-in-Marsh and all the local Cotswold villages
Our Cottage has three double bedrooms and a very large bathroom with shower and bath. There is a large kitchen and large sitting room with television including DVD player. The cottage is immaculately clean, and during these times it is perfect for a home from home experience, deep in the countryside and you will have total privacy. For larger numbers of guests there is a one bedroomed cottage that sleeps 2 people less than 10 paces opposite which is let separately. The Cottage has a garden to enjoy. For weekends I book for 4-6 guests rather than smaller numbers as we sleep 6 but for guests of only 4 - I would require a minimum of 2 night stay over weekend unless prior arrangement with Jo
We live closest to the beautiful Cotswold town of Chipping Campden, with Moreton-in-Marsh and Stow-on-the-Wold close by too. You should not miss Broadway either! We are also close to Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon and Cheltenham

As the village is away from main roads, it avoids the heavy tourist traffic and so visitors can get a real sense of rural life, enjoying the rolling countryside which falls within the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The peaceful Blockley Brook attracts tourists and locals as a quiet place to relax in the warmer months. This brook, together with the other brook in the village, played a part in Blockley's history as there were once 12 water mills which provided work in various industries over the centuries, including silk production and flour milling. Architecturally the village has quite a different character in comparison to the rest of the North Cotswolds as it has a more similar style to that of the villages in the Stroud valley, but here they have used a more golden stone. This design is reminiscent of wealthier times as the majority of the cottages were built during the 17th and 18th century, at the height of the industrial era. A popular attraction in Blockley is Mill Dene Garden which is a partner garden of the Royal Horticultural Society. With a misty grotto, stream and seats around the mill pond, this is a lovely place to while away the time looking out for the kingfishers whilst enjoying a cream tea. Food & Drink For a relatively small village, Blockley is blessed with a number of places to eat and drink, all just a short walk from anywhere in the village. The Crown Inn (www.crownhotelblockley.co.uk): This 16th century country inn is situated in the heart of Blockley and features a restaurant serving dishes prepared with local produce, along with a bar with an open fire and a wide selection of real ales. This honey coloured historic inn is covered in Virginia creeper which turns a stunning red in Autumn. Walk inside to the scents of wood smoke from the open log fires and snuggle into a comfy chair by the fire, to view the daily papers with a coffee or something stronger. Dinner is served in the warm and friendly restaurant with lighter meals and snacks available in the bar. The Great Western Arms (https://www.hooky.co.uk/content/our-pubs/great-western-arms-blockley.ashx): The award winning Great Western Arms is the “Local” of Blockley. The “Western” as it is locally known, is a Hook Norton Brewery pub and is tenanted to Sharon Brace. It is right at the heart of the village both geographically and socially, and is where Sharon and her team serve up some of the finest food, drink and entertainment available. The pub has two rooms: one is used as the restaurant and the other houses a pool table, juke box and darts board (dogs are welcome in the pool room). The Pub has recently been extensively refurbished and now boasts 1st class facilities and comforts. The spacious lounge bar/restaurant retains its period "feel" but has been re-furnished and decorated with great taste and care. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming and friendly. Blockley Village Shop & Café (blockleyshop.com): The community owned shop and café is the hub of the village. The shop offers a wide range of basic groceries and necessities, and a tempting array of local products, including farm meat and free-range eggs, daily deliveries of local fruit and veg, freshly baked bread and locally made ready meals. Logs are generally stocked in winter. The licensed café is open all day, serving breakfasts, lunches, coffees and teas, and home-baked cakes. Take-away hot and cold food, including croissants, pastries and baguettes, is also very popular. The café, where free broadband is available, is a popular meeting place for locals and visitors of all ages.

The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

This patio area also has a bench and a wrought iron seat, and a charcoal barbecue is provided. Please note that although the garden is enclosed, there is a right of access for the neighbours. Quiet on-street parking is available at the front of the property.
Blockley is a popular village in the Cotswolds which is found within a triangle formed by three renowned market towns: Chipping Campden to the North, Moreton-in-Marsh to the South East and Stow-on-the-Wold to the South. Being close to these three towns has led to increased footfall in the village, bringing with it good quality pubs and a lovely village shop/café.

Chipping Campden is one of the main market towns in the North Cotswolds, built by medieval traders with wealth created from the wool trade. With many thatched cottages, this is one of the most picturesque towns in the region. A notable feature of the town is the Market Hall which was built in 1627. Originally thought to be used in the wool trade, the main function of the hall was actually to give shelter to local cheese, poultry and butter sellers. The High Street is relatively small, taking just five minutes to walk from one end to the other, and it has a number of well-regarded eateries ranging from tea houses to dining pubs and restaurants. This main street curves in a shallow arc which is flanked on both sides by terraces of ancient houses, each house having its own embellishments. This feature of the town is one of the reasons why, in 1970, the street was officially designated as a conservation area. Chipping Campden marks one end of the Cotswolds Way which is a 102 mile National Trail linking Chipping Campden to Bath. For the majority of the trail it follows the Cotswold escarpment which gives the walker fantastic views of the surrounding scenery. The Way passes through many traditional villages and close to historical sites including Sudeley Castle near Winchcombe and Hailes Abbey. The countryside along the Way is very diverse, ranging from wildflower meadows to beech woodlands, providing visitors with perfect examples of Britain's stunning landscape. Chipping Campden has numerous places to eat and drink, with a range of cuisines and prices to suit most tastes and budgets. The list below is a small sample of the range of options available: The Kings Hotel (www.kingscampden.co.uk): Modern British food with a contemporary twist. You will encounter mouth-watering choices like a starter of Duck Rillets with a Pea Panna Cotta & Pomegranate dressing, or main course of Braised Belly Pork & Fillet, Crispy Langoustine Tail, Roasted Apple, Celeriac Choucroute & Dauphinoise Potato. To finish, the dessert menu promises blissful indulgence with the likes of Caramel Banana Mousse, Pain D’epice & Coffee Soil. For a more informal option, relax in the friendly atmosphere of the stylishly refurbished Brasserie bar, serving morning coffee & brunch through to afternoon tea & dinner. Enjoy favourites such as Mussels in Garlic & White Wine, Home-made Aberdeen Angus Burger, Focaccia, Smoked Bacon & Tomato Relish with Fries; Cotswold House Hotel (www.cotswoldhouse.com): The kitchen team take their inspiration from the finest offerings of dedicated producers - whether it be wholesome crusty breads, locally-churned cheeses, home-reared meats, best Cornish fish, vegetables from the lush Vale of Evesham, or jams and preserves from small-scale artisan producers. The result? The very best of modern British cooking. Wonderful, simple food served at lunch and dinner in The Cotswold Grill or at dinner in The Dining Room at Cotswold House. On warm days, enjoy a drink, coffee, or lunch on the Pavilion Terrace tucked away in the hotel garden, its borders awash with summer colour. Sit under a shady umbrella and enjoy the peace and quiet from morning coffee to your early evening sun-downer; Michael’s Mediterranean Restaurant(www.michaelsmediterranean.co.uk): Specialising in Greek and modern Mediterranean cuisine, served in a relaxed, intimate setting.

There are numerous walking and cycle routes available on its doorstep, including the famous 100 mile long Cotswold Way long distance walking trail and shorter circular walks for leisurely days spent exploring the area. Chipping Campden is well placed for exploring the other beautiful towns and villages of the North Cotswolds, such as Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold, Broadway and Snowshill. Popular tourist attractions in the area include the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, The Model Village in Bourton-on-the-Water and Hidcote Gardens, now under ownership of the National Trust. Further afield destinations such as Bath, Oxford, Blenheim Palace and Stratford-upon-Avon, birthplace of William Shakespeare, are easily accessible for day trips. Accessed via the pretty garden path bordered by lavender, the stable door opens into the kitchen, and the following rooms are on the ground floor: Kitchen: The well presented kitchen has a stunning Cotswold stone feature wall and is well-equipped for home cooking. It contains a double fan assisted oven with six-ring gas hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine, slimline dishwasher, bean to cup coffee machine, kettle, cafetière and toaster; Dining/living room: Two steps lead down from the kitchen into the bright and airy living area. This open plan space has exposed wooden beams and wonderful limestone flooring, and overlooks the delightful garden. It contains a wooden dining table with seating for six, a tumble dryer, inglenook fireplace with cosy wood burning stove, two three-seater sofas, two pouffes and a small footstool. There is a Freeview TV and DVD player on rotational stand, a Bluetooth CD radio player and a small selection of books. Stairs lead up from the living room to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Master bedroom: This beautifully presented dual aspect bedroom has original wooden floorboards and offers lovely views of the garden. It contains a king size bed, a freestanding wardrobe and chest of drawers as well as a full length mirror; Bedroom 2: With a step up into the room, this tastefully decorated bedroom contains a double bed, a chest of drawers, hanging rail with two small wicker baskets above and a wall mirror; Family bathroom: This bright and spacious bathroom contains a freestanding bath, walk-in rain shower, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail. The gorgeous private garden is at the front of the property, with a wonderful patio area directly outside the kitchen which houses a garden table with seating for six, plus a stylish chiminea. The rest of the garden is laid to lawn, with fragrant roses and lavender adding splashes of colour and a variety of trees casting welcome shade in the warmer months. A dry-stone wall encloses the garden and alongside this wall runs a dried out culvert. The two foot culvert used to be a stream and whilst no water flows through the channel now, young children should be supervised in the garden at all times. This tranquil area is a lovely spot for al fresco dining, or for simply relaxing in the deck chairs whilst taking in the scents and sights of the garden. There is free on-street parking readily available close to the property.
Food & Drink Chipping Campden has numerous places to eat and drink, with a range of cuisines and prices to suit most tastes and budgets. Wine and dine in relaxed surroundings, with the warm ambience of open fires and a friendly service. From a delightful array of Mezze dishes, fresh fish and seafood with seasonal daily specials to the renowned “Marathona” Fillet Steaks.

In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches".

Heart of the Cotswolds, stone-built cottage in the centre of beautiful Blockley village. Set over three floors, the cottage offers a top floor garden view double room with ensuite bathroom. A tranquil retreat with Blockley brook running by. The hill top garden area overlooks the rooftops of the village served by local shop/cafe and pub (good food!) There are wonderful walks from the village in all directions with inspiring views and unspoilt Cotswolds towns and villages in the surrounding area.
I'm new to AirBnB hosting but not new to meeting new people which is a constant in the music industry!
This village is unique amongst the Cotswold locations in that it feels truly cut away from everything in its setting yet is only a short drive away from its neighbouring villages. The long downhill approach into Blockley from Boughton-on-the-hill always gives me a warm sense of returning to a truly peaceful place surrounded by lush country hills and a feint gentle breeze brushing the many huge trees in this area. In days gone by Blockley brook once provided a thriving silk mill community. My favourite landmark must be the Broadway Tower five minutes drive away: on a clear day one can view right across the Severn valley to Wales.

Food & Drink Chipping Campden has numerous places to eat and drink, with a range of cuisines and prices to suit most tastes and budgets. Wine and dine in relaxed surroundings, with the warm ambience of open fires and a friendly service. From a delightful array of Mezze dishes, fresh fish and seafood with seasonal daily specials to the renowned “Marathona” Fillet Steaks.

We recommend the beautiful circular walk from Blockley village to nearby Batsford, where its vibrant arboretum can be enjoyed by all ages throughout the year. Starting at Blockley's 13th century church in the centre of the village, you'll pass through fields and Batsford village before arriving at the arboretum, where acres of trees of all shapes and sizes burst to life throughout the year.
