The Half Moon is an ex-pub, 10 mins walk from the station, in a conservation area on a street where once 18 pubs served passing drovers. An eco-venue, we offer vegan options, PV panels, rainwater collection, EV charging & grow some food. You can buy all you need very nearby in local boutique shops, incl. newsagent, patisserie, P.O, butcher, shoe, hardware, gift & organic wholefood shops. Great cafes, eateries & pubs are in easy walking distance –even a place where the first cheque was written!
The Half Moon is much larger inside than it seems on the outside, with a beautiful, calm feeling, spacious rooms and pleasant garden. Make yourself at home.
Llandovery is a lovely market town sandwiched between the spectacular Brecon Beacons National Park and little explored but equally amazing Cambrian Mountains. Its name means Church of the Waters, since several rivers meet here. A Roman settlement, it's not far from the gold mines and the hideout of Twm Siôn Cati, known as the Welsh Robin Hood.
  • 這所房子令人難以置信,乾淨,就在鎮中心。大衛非常友好和熱情。可悲的是,我們沒有花太多時間與Pancho這隻貓。絕對推薦住在這裡!

The house is in a conservation area, not far from the centre. This listing is for the single room; another is for the double.
At the end of the street is where the first cheque was ever issued. The Black Ox was a pub, became a bank, and was bought by Lloyds. The ox became the black horse! The street was an old drovers' route and used to have 18 pubs on it to cater for them; this house was once one of them.

A comfortable single room in a detached house situated in a small Welsh village with all amenities close by. The village has a shop and a train station (Heart of Wales line) and many lovely walks. The area is set within the pretty Cambrian and Black mountains offering waterfalls, bike rides and mountain walks and the magnificent Brecon Beacons are also within a 20 minute drive.
A single room, but I have a spare mattress should a second person wish to stay too, although the bed will be on the floor.

Set like a jewel in the beautiful Brecon Beacons, this tiny house is inspired by a traditional shepherd hut and offers super luxurious accommodation. Both cosy and private it's a place to snuggle down and get away from it all. It is cosy, light, airy and free of draughts. It has a clean, fresh comfortable feel and a traditional log burner. If the weather is good it is an ideal location for outdoor pursuits. If the weather is poor, stay inside and watch films, listen to music or play games.
Gilfach translates from the Welsh as ‘nook’ or ‘hideaway’. This perfectly describes the farm, tucked away in a steep sided valley yet only 5mins drive from the A40. The farm dates back four hundred years, part of the original stone barn has been converted into the Barn Loft. Just north of the Brecon Beacons national park and nestling in the folds of the hills. The loft is beautifully decorated and everything you need to enjoy tranquillity and rest. The Oak Hut benefits from all modern comforts to make it a warm and cosy place to snuggle into whatever the weather. There is a microwave, kettle, toaster, single ring induction hob and a small fridge. There is a traditional Belfast sink. There is no conventional oven. A full set of basic kitchen equipment is provided. There is a flap down table and two folding chairs. There is a generously sized shower with plenty of hot water. The double bed has a super warm wool duvet (Baavet) and organic cotton cover. There is underfloor heating - however when it is very cold you will need to light the log burner - I provide the logs! Gilfach is a traditional Welsh hill farm. There are sixty acres of pasture, ancient woodland, larch plantation and rough bracken and wetland meadows. It is home five British White cows and five horses. Guests are welcome to explore the farm and beyond along the rights of way leading from Gilfach’s land. There are wonderful views of Pen-y-Fan from the top of the farm and a stream flowing along the lower border, there is a mass flora and fauna to see with red kites and buzzards circling up and down the valley. The area’s Dark Sky status and the lack of light pollution makes Gilfach ideal for great stargazing. The farm itself is open to you to go for walks. There is a wonderful view of Pen-y-Fan from the top of the farm and plenty of wildlife to see with red kites and buzzards constantly circling up and down the valley. We also have woodlands - ancient, deciduous and conifer and a stream flowing along the lower border of the farm all of which you are welcome to explore.
Gilfach is on the northern edge of the Brecon Beacons National park. This is a wild and dramatic landscape with steeped with fascinating geology and history. There are hills to climb, ridges to stride along and lakes to swim in. Castles to explore, beautiful gardens to visit, and rivers for canoeing and fishing. There are the show caves at Dan Yr Ogof and the famous waterfalls at Ysradfellte. There is mountain railway and industrial heritage still visible in the landscape and preserved in the Big Pit Coal Museum at Blaenavon. Easily within reach for a day trip, you can enjoy the world-renowned beeches of the Gower peninsula or even head to Pendine Sands (famous for land speed records) and further afield to Tendby and Pembroke. The farm is twenty mins drive from Brecon where there are supermarkets, high street shopping, a cathedral and museums and leisure centre. In the opposite direction it is only slightly further to Llandovery – or for the nearest city it’s a fifty min drive to Swansea. The villages of Sennybridge, Defynnog and Trecastle are all just a few minutes from the farm. All have great places to eat and there is a very good fish and chip shop, a garage with café that serves a really good breakfast.

However, for the more adventurous there is plenty to see and do and despite our rural and peaceful location we are very centrally placed, easy to reach and an ideal spot from which to explore Mid, South and West Wales. The village of Cil-y-cwm, has a small friendly pub serving excellent food. The village street was once a drovers’ road and the cobbled watercourses which used to be filled with water for cattle to drink can still be seen today. The village church has fifteenth century wall murals and a yew tree which is at least 1, 500 years old. The Methodist Chapel, built in 1740, was one of the first Methodist Chapels in Wales. The whole area, in the lower foothills of the Cambrian Mountains and on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, is outstanding for walkers, birdwatchers, photographers, artist and all country lovers. There are gentle strolls or more strenuous hikes from the cottage door including one to a magnificent waterfall. The area is a natural habitat for all kinds of wildlife and flora and it is common to see red kites, kestrels , sparrow hawks and many other birds. There are two RSPB Reserves - Dinas and Gwenffrwd. There are even red squirrels in the area! Cycling, fishing, riding and golf can all be arranged locally. Why is it called New York? There used to be a cottage at the top of our land here at Penstacan called New York and another in the village called Pennsylvania. Everyone welcome to stay in this characterful 260 year old stone farmhouse overlooking the beautiful hills and valleys of the Black Mountains. You'll be warmly welcomed by the host with a generous cup of tea or coffee.............
The location is in the far north western corner of the Brecon Beacons National Park with stunning views of the hills and easy access to the nearest towns of Llandovery, Brecon and Llandeilo as well as the mountains, lakes and rivers. The house itself is set on a hillside down a quiet and remote country lane surrounded by the beauty of nature - the only sounds coming from the leaves rustling in the wind, the water from the small waterfalls in the stream and the abundance of birds and wildlife. This is an area where we try and keep it part of the Dark Skies Reserve so at night there is total darkness where you can see a million stars. A place to relax, revitalise your soul, rejuvenate your energies and immerse yourself in peace, tranquillity and beauty.
These rural lanes are very quiet and walkable with extremely few if no traffic at all - mainly the postman once every few days. Just a few hundred metres down into the valley from the house there is a bridge straddling a river which will soon have salmon swimming through it. The nearest village (approx 4miles) has a very helpful Tourist Information Centre, some interesting shops and a stunning stainless steel statue of Llywelyn ap Gruffydd Fychan on the remnants of Llandovery Castle (1116) - a must to be seen at night! There's The Bear Inn in the Market Square for lunch or evening meal or The Old Post Shop for delicious hand-made chocolates, gifts or coffees. There's two larger eateries, take aways, an Indian and Chinese, numerous pubs, a Post Office and Library. Further affield you have Myddfai (where Prince Charles has his famous B & B); near Llangadog you have the mountains of Lyn-y-Fan Fach from the famous Lady of the Lake folk lore who gave birth to the Physicians of Mydffai; then you have the road through Llangadog and up onto the mountains and over to Brynaman - totally awe inspiring and even better if you turn down one of the side lanes and let the adventures begin.....and so much more to explore!

Set in the heart of Wales, the home is ideally located for those ready to get away from it all and to enjoy a true Welsh holiday. This detached property is situated on the edge of the beautiful small market town of Llandovery, with all the luxuries and more of home. Guests will find a peaceful family home which will always provide a warm and stress-free welcome at the end of your day. The home away from home is ideal for walkers, cyclists, couples and families. A real hidden gem!
The home is on the edge of the small picturesque town of Llandovery. The town centre is minutes walk from my front door as is the town rail station on the Heart of Wales railway line. The large bedroom is warm and clean with a beautiful view; there is ample storage space for belongings. The garden backs onto a footpath that can be followed down to the banks of the River Towy, under 2 minutes walk away! There is a 3/4 size snooker table in the home with chalk, cues and balls. Full signal and Wifi is available throughout the property. There is off-road parking available. Smoking is allowed outside the house in the rear garden. The house is centrally heated and laundry is available for those staying a minimum of three nights.
There are a number of charming little shops and a selection of pubs and restaurants in Llandovery to spend an evening. Llandovery’s unique location makes it the perfect place for you to base yourself for your Welsh holiday. The following are just some of the places to visit, the driving time there is in brackets. To the North….... Cwm-Rhaedyr red route Mountain Biking (15min) Mountain Bike Rider magazine quoted it has “one of the best trails we’ve ridden anywhere in the UK” Dolaucothi Gold Mines (20min) The ancient Roman Gold Mines are great for adults and kids. Twm Sion Cati Nature Reserve and Cave (20min) My favourite walk in the local area! Walk along the boardwalk in thick woods rife with bird species to a circular walk, and the "cave" where the Welsh Robin Hood used to hide from the law! Llyn Brianne Dam (30min) There are numerous walks around and across the huge Dam wall in the foothills of the Elan Valley. Elan Valley (1hr) A walker’s and cyclist’s dream. The stunning Elan Valley is criss-crossed with trails for all levels and abilities. To the East........... Brecon Beacons and Pen-y-Fan (30min) The spectacular Brecon Beacons is on the doorstep. A half hour drive to the highest mountain in South Wales, Pen-y-Fan is also a must! Usk reservoir (30min) A great place for a picnic, numerous trails go around the lake. A good point to begin and end a day’s hiking. Llangorse lake riding and climbing centre (40min) Perfect for kids of all ages. I used to take my boys there for their birthday every year, perfect for a rainy day! The Big Pit Museum (1hr 10min) A great chance to understand the history of South Wales by going down a Welsh mine, with underground tours. To the South and West............ Red Kite feeding station (15min) A good place to stop off at on the way to or back from a day on the Black Mountain or up Llyn-y-Fan Fach. National Trust Property Dinefwr House and Castle (20 mins) Beautiful walk from the grounds of the country estate to the castle through a deer park. The house is perfect for a rainy day. Black Mountain, (25min) The Black Mountain is a great ascent on a clear day. Talley Abbey and Nature Reserve (25min) The Abbey itself is in ruins now but the walks around the Nature Reserve are beautiful. Dan yr Ogof Caves (30 min) Spend a day at one of the largest cave systems in Europe. There are loads of great walks in the surrounding mountains too. Castles: Carrig Cennen, Dinefwr, Dryslwyn (30min). Wales has more castles per square mile than anywhere in the world! Carrig Cennen is just a short drive away and in my view is the best of the bunch! Llyn-y-Fan Fach (30min) An absolutely incredible walk to a lake which sits in the shadow of the mountain summit. The lake itself is the subject of the Lady of the Lake legend. The views from the summit are well worth the hike. National Botanic Gardens (35min) Llansteffan Beach (50min) A personal favourite of mine as you can walk around the headland of the beach and up to a castle that looks out over the estuary. Dylan Thomas Boathouse (55min) The boathouse in Laugharne where Dylan penned his poems is a wonderful change from the hills and mountains of mid Wales. The town of Laugharne is beautiful and has some lovely walks along the coastal path. There are also plenty of wonderful trails around Llandovery for those who don't want to venture too far from the house. I'm happy to show you on a map all my favourite trails around the local area!

Fresh clean accommodation, tucked away up in the hills with fantastic views across the Brecon Beacons National Park. We have a 12 acre smallholding with a flock of Black Welsh Mountain Sheep and 2 delightful Pygmy Goats. It’s the perfect location to watch the magnificent red kite birds of prey soaring above. The accommodation is self-contained with it’s own entrance. It’s part of the farmhouse where your hosts, Ken and Sue, live. We look forward to welcoming you to our little piece of paradise.
There is a strong 4G mobile phone signal at the property but currently no WiFi. There’s a small TV and DVD player with a selection of DVD’s. You are welcome walk around our land and woods, but please leave all gates as you found them.
We are in a very quiet rural location, so its a great place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle. Our nearest neighbours are a 10 minute walk across the fields. You won’t hear any traffic only birdsong and bleating sheep. The views from the property are spectacular. The nearest town is Llandovery which is about 6 miles away. It has 3 cafe’s, several pubs serving delicious good value food, a proper fish & chip shop, Indian and Chinese takeaways, a couple of small supermarkets, doctor/dentist and pharmacy. The nearest shop for milk, bread, chocolate etc is the Village Shop in Llanwrda, 1.5 miles away. There is also a good cafe in Llanwrda serving delicious breakfasts and lunch. Llandeilo is around 8 miles away and offers more than Llandovery for shopping, but if you are looking for “High Street” shops you will have to go to Carmarthen which is about 17 miles away.

There is plenty of room in the lounge for the fold-up bed, or it can go in either bedroom. The master bedroom with en suite shower room is at the end of the barn, and so would be quiet for a child using the fifth bed, if they needed to be in bed earlier than the rest of the group. A recent guest said; "It was a real sense of awe we experienced staying at Owl Barn. What you achieved in the juxtaposition of modern/new against the rural backdrop is spectacular. The floor-plan, the use of white, natural and gray tones; the exposed beams, and the way you seamlessly incorporate modern conveniences and comforts all worked so well. And the lighting -wow! The lighting. Everything from the variety of fixtures, mix of colour-temps, angles/spotlighting. Amazing. And that’s just the artificial lighting. The way you brought in natural light was equally impressive. The variety and positioning of windows/doors/skylights and their dimensions, not only let the light in but also the surroundings. Glimpses of nature from different angles, the main farmhouse, the sky. The choice of interior light-colour flooring, white walls serve to accentuate nature and the natural light."
Llandovery is a pleasant market town, only 10 mins by car, along the leafy lane that leads down to the main road. Take your time along here; there are many blind bends and 20 mph is quite fast enough! Many shops, including a medium size supermarket, bakers, butchers, delis, cafes Post office, gift shops etc. A great Chinese takeaway, and the Three Horseshoes fish and chip restaurant and takeaway, both on the main street are recommended, and there are Indian and other fast food outlets. There are several good places to eat out; The Old Printing Office cafe (daytime) is my favourite, behind the shop. The Kings Head and Castle Hotels do good food, as does the Three Horse Shoes restaurant and takeaway. The town used to have over 30 pubs! But now there are approximately 10, and there a several country pubs in the Towy valley that make a good welcome and do food. I provide a detailed list in my welcome pack and handbook. Llandovery is the home of the Llandovery Drovers, a semi professional Welsh Premiership rugby side, and the centre of the small town is occupied by the famous Llandovery College, where many sporting greats have come to the notice of talent spotters, especially on the rugby field. There is a swimming pool, tennis squash and raquetball courts, bowls and croquet adjacent to the delightful Castle Fields cricket ground, next to the car park in the centre of town. A visit to the livestock market, beyond the town car park, on Tuesday mornings or most Fridays could be an interesting excursion. This lovely rural area is fantastic for the outdoors with walking, cycling, both on road and off, and we even have a great MTB trail within easy cycling range of the farm, Cwm Rhaeadr MTB forest trail; cycle over into the next valley, 30 mins, ride the trail, 45 mins /lap, dine in the Neuadd Arms in Cilycwm and ride back to Owl Barn at Penygaer. Phew! Or put the bike in the car to get there..... There are many other cycle and walking tracks through Crychan forest on the opposite side of our Bran valley, or ride/ walk out onto the hills of mid Wales or the Brecon Beacons, only 30 mins away. Visit; Lyn y Fan; the most fantastic (URL HIDDEN) is a delightful lake nestling in the cwm of Fan Fawr, the mountain in the view from the kitchen door; 35 mins in the car, then 40 mins walk to the lake. Magical with mystical stories about the Lady of the Lake! On to the top of Fan Fawr is a good hike, but what a view...yes, that is Somerset you can see from there! Gold Mines at DolauCothi 30 mins away by car Upper Towy valley, Cilycwm, Rhandirmwyn and on to the Lynne Brianne dam, the largest of it's type in Europe, walking/cycling, very scenic 35 mins to the dam up the Towy valley. Golf; there's a nine hole course just beside the river Towy. 10 mins Builth Wells has a good 18 hole course. 35 mins Builth Wells is also home to the annual Royal Wesh Show around the end of July, and the showground hosts many other events throughout the year. Charming detached home in the middle of delightful Cilycwm village. Good sized private room recently tastefully decorated and super-comfy bed. Cilycwm has old world charm with its 14th Century church and a village pub that is a hub for locals and welcoming for visitors serving great food. 3 miles from Llandovery town centre and right on the edge of the Brecon Beacon National Park. Excellent access to facilities for leisure/road cyclists and mountain bikers, walkers and ramblers.
I have an old friendly German Shepherd so would recommend guests should be comfortable around dogs. Access to self-service breakfast of cereals/porridge, toast, eggs, juice. Tea and coffee (Nespresso Machine) available anytime. Lounge has Welsh wood burning stove making for cosy winter evenings. Yew Tree House is located right in the centre of Cilycwm and about 30 metres from the excellent local pub. The house has a very comfortable and relaxing environment to get away from it all yet easily access more lively day and evening activities.
Cilycwm is a truly unique Welsh village. Steeped in history and having residents who can trace their family history back a few hundred years, it has embraced a truly cosmopolitan feel and welcomed residents from all areas and walks of life. The village is centred around the pub and covers only a couple of hundred metres but has beautiful views in every direction.

Between the Brecon Beacons National Park and the Cambrian Mountains, this is a great centre for beautiful countryside. Our pretty cottage with walled garden is in the quiet conservation area of the town. A "Heart of Wales" railway station is nearby.
This is a comfortable "home-from-home" with a welcoming feel to it, that our own family uses from time to time. We hope you will like it as much as we do. There is a good-sized family bathroom and a shower room with toilet and small wash-basin.
The cottage is centrally located near Llandovery Castle and the fabulous statue of Llewelyn-ap-Gruffydd. Castle Street is quite charming and has repeatedly won the town's competition for the "prettiest street." Llandovery itself has local shops, cafes, pubs, restaurants and takeaways and there is a good childrens' playground next to the Castle.

Gilfach translates from the Welsh as ‘nook’ or ‘hideaway’. This perfectly describes the farm, tucked away in a steep sided valley yet only 5mins drive from the A40. The farm dates back four hundred years. A more recent addition to the farm is a traditional log cabin. Tucked away it affords privacy and fantastic views of the valley. Gilfach is just north of the Brecon Beacons national park and nestling in the folds of the hills. The Cabin has everything you need to enjoy tranquillity and rest.
The Cabin benefits from all modern comforts to make it a warm and cosy place to snuggle into whatever the weather. The shower room has an electric shower. There is a double bedroom and separate bedroom with full sized bunk beds. There is Freeview TV and WiFi. The double doors in the lounge area open out onto a spacious decking.

Self contained room and en suite with it's own entrance within a large 1800's Welsh Farmhouse, situated on the edge of the Brecon Beacons. Amazing walking, cycling (road and off road) and running on the doorstep plus two lovely small towns (Llandovery and Llandeilo) full of independent shops and cafes just a few minutes away. The room is spacious with high ceilings and a huge bathroom. Original shutters at the window along with a window seat that is the perfect spot for a morning coffee.
The room can be a twin or super king and includes a kettle, toaster and small fridge to allow you to make breakfast or simple meals. Along with a selection of china (plates, bowls, mugs). Happy to also provide a travel cot if needed. The room is within the house with a (locked) door joining the inner hallway, so you may hear the noise of family life going on. But our children are primary school aged so out at school Monday-Friday and in bed by 7pm so unlikely to disturb your stay. Given the location within the house we do of course also request for you to be considerate when it comes to noise of both us and our neighbours. No loud music at any time and if coming or going when others may be asleep please keep noise to a minimum. Parking is to the front of the main house on the large gravel drive way.
The Western Brecon Beacons is a somewhat undiscovered area with fewer tourists but some of the best scenery Wales has to offer. Our smallholding is situated just outside the park a few miles south of Llandovery. The property is very quiet being set back from the road up a short track and stepping outside all you can normally hear are sheep, a tractor or a Red Kite whistling. If you enjoy the outdoors there are great walks/trail runs a short drive away (Llyn y Fan Fach is a real gem), great cycling with 3 of the Top 100 climbs within 30km and some awesome mountain biking in Brechfa. Happy to share route recommendations and also provide bike cleaning or maintenance facilities if needed. If you're looking for something more relaxing to do then head for Llandeilo which has some wonderful independent shops and cafes (the Ginhaus Deli does the best flat white in my opinion). You can also reach a number of beaches within an hour or so drive either south or west. Llansteffan, Pembrey and New Quay to name but a few. All generally quiet especially outside of the summer holidays.

Meadow Cottage is a welcoming, cosy two bedroomed retreat raised from the ruin of a Welsh longhouse. It nestles in a beautiful valley flanked by trees and hills and is the perfect place for a relaxing break. As you approach the property along the narrow country lane, be prepared to fall into the embrace of this peaceful and tranquil location. The cottage is well equipped and has a pretty garden surrounded by fields and woodland with a patio for alfresco dining or just being at one with nature.
The cottage is a dedicated holiday home and is situated within our 200 acre farmland estate. The original property collapsed many years ago and when we acquired it, the only parts still standing were the livestock end, which was complete, and part of the wall containing the original fireplace. We decided to renovate the cottage and used as much as possible of the old stone still lying nearby, and in 1999 it was re-born. At night, Meadow Cottage is near silent except for the odd owl hooting or the wind rustling in the trees, and the sky is properly dark except for the moon and stars - a perfect recipe for the townie needing a good nights sleep. To help you dream on, our comfortable beds have soft snuggly duvets and pillows with fresh colour coordinated bed linen. In the Kitchen, you’ll find all the equipment you’ll need to prepare anything from basic grub to an epicurean feast. We provide tea towels, dish cloths and cleaning products. The cosy Lounge has windows overlooking the front and back gardens. It has two comfy sofas and an armchair. On a chilly evening, you can enjoy the log burning stove. The spacious Double Bedroom on the first floor has a king size pine bed, dressing table, hair dryer, wardrobe, chest of drawers, walk in eaves cupboard for storage and a boudoir chair. Adjacent to the Double Bedroom is the Bathroom which has a basin, wc, bath with shower and a warm airing cupboard. You will find individually wrapped scented soap, relaxing bubble bath, soft towels and a pack of four toilet tissue. The Twin Bedroom is on the ground floor and has two 3' single beds with bedside cabinets and reading lights. There is a matching tallboy with drawers and hanging space. A few steps down from the hallway is the Laundry Room equipped with a sink, washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board with iron and clothes airer. For drying wet dogs we have provided some old towels. We are Martin and Karen and we welcome our guests with a complimentary hamper of tea, coffee and biscuits with milk in the fridge. Our home is next door, so to speak, 300 metres along a farm track and we host the cottage with the help of our co-host, Liz. We are always happy to meet you, chat or help with anything you need.

The room is a large private with double bed (5' width) plus dressing table. There is a beautiful ensuite bathroom, with both shower and bath. There is also a small space for dressing. The room is on the first floor (or second floor if you are from Asia or the US) and overlooks the river Irfon; the view is very remarkable and also takes in the farmer's fields on the other side of the bank.
I do not own a television or a TV licence.
Neighbourhood is very peaceful, this is the smallest town in the UK! The house is on the Llandovery Road, so during the day there is traffic. At night and in the evening it is silent. There are many walks and cycle runs to enjoy. A lovely part of mid-|Wales.

Tastefully renovated 200 year old barn with stunning views across the unspoilt Upper Towy Valley in the Cambrian Mountains. Space for two couples and two kids, or a family of five. Surrounded by forests, rivers, streams and waterfalls. Great garden.
Rustic yet modern, a bright and spacious two-storey converted barn. 3 bedrooms and bathroom downstairs and an open-plan living space upstairs, overlooking lush gardens and the Towy Valley. Please note the bunk beds are narrow (2'6") and not really suitable for adults.
The Upper Towy Valley, surrounded by the Cambrian mountains and only 40 mins drive from the Brecon Beacons has many opportunities for walkers, mountain bikers and those of an outdoors disposition. It all starts as soon as you step outside. There are stunning walks in every direction - or drive to the Llyn Brianne reservoir and start from there. You can even canoe or kayak on the river at the end of the drive… There is a mountain bike trail at Cwm Rhaeadr (URL HIDDEN) Also an all ability (pushchair and wheelchair friendly) walk It's possible to go horse riding along the many bridle paths that are nearby. The Dinas Nature Reserve has a lovely circular walk among the waterfalls of the upper Towy valley. Run by the RSPB it's a fantastic place for bird watchers and it seems also Welsh fugitives. Legend has it that Twm Sion Cati, the Welsh outlaw, hid in the caves here. There’s also a Red Kite feeding station nearby. The region has several castles that are open to the public: The spectacular Carreg Cennen sits high on a rocky crag with magnificent views of the Black Mountain and Towy Valley. The dark cave beneath the castle is worth exploring too. Dinefwr Castle, a 20 minute drive, dates from the 9th century and is considered one of the most important castles in Wales. The castle is in the grounds of Dinefwr Park, also home to Newton House. The Park is a beautiful place for an afternoon stroll. Watch out for the many deer. There are events held within the park from March to November. In the surrounding area there are many old lead and gold mines, drovers trails and ancient shelters waiting to be discovered on long walks. The ancient gardens of Aberglasney are delightful. In a few hours you can discover its pools, cloister walk and ancient Yew tunnel as well as many rare plants.
