Spacious rooms in magnificent listed Georgian mansion - one of the most beautiful and oldest houses in Torquay. With up-to 5 rooms available it's ideal for families and groups of friends. Every room is large and bright. There's plenty of parking along with the peace and quiet of a secluded, totally private location.
On the 2nd floor are three double bedrooms, a huge sitting/dining room (with sofa bed), a shower room and a snug with microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster. On the floor below there is a spectacular double with private modern shower/wet room and access to a shared bathroom. With sea views from both of the double bedrooms and the sitting room on the second floor, we think you'll find these one of the nicest AirBnBs you'll have stayed in. If you choose to book the 3 rooms on the 2nd floor then you will have exclusive use of the shower room, snug (with microwave, fridge kettle and toaster) and massive sitting room; it's basically a three bedroomed apartment accessed through the main house. If you are booking for 9 or 10 people please be aware that one/two of these will need to use the sofa bed in the 2nd floor sitting room (or we can add a single bed to one of the double bedrooms).
Ideally situated for the Riviera International Centre, International Agatha Christie Festival, Torquay beach, the Princess theatre and Torquay station - all are a short walk away. The Chelston part of Torquay is a leafy suburb with lots of fine Victorian villas and the seafront is but a 10 minute walk. The award winning Cockington Court and historic Torre Abbey are both within easy walking distance.

Due to Covid-19, to support only essential travel, the NHS and limit spread of the virus, I am taking no bookings up to the end of May. This may extend. Unique & beautiful BackBeach; Fisherman's cottage, self-contained, ground-floor. Stunning sunsets & moonlit waters up the River Teign to Dartmoor. Enjoy river, harbour & beach life, winter storm watching. Steps 2 eateries, Shaldon Ferry, Arts Quarter. Town Center a few mins walk.
Lots to do, but also a perfect place to do nothing here on the Back Beach in Teignmouth, my home town. More tranquil in the winter, and especially cosy with the wood-burner on winter nights. Great space to stay all year round, with books and games, TV, wifi. The picture window faces the beach and up the River Teign to Dartmoor with Haytor Rock on the horizon. For walkers, the Templar Way passes just outside - an 18 mile hike to Haytor. For artists and photographers the light and coastal/rural scenery from the house is gorgeous. River activity to watch from the house includes: harbour seal; swans/sea birds, cargo ships, rowers and amazing sunsets. The house has a 'Trot' a mooring for a small boat which you are free to use for your own boat. If planning to use the trot can you let me know at least 48 hours in advance. Perfect for visiting Exeter, or Dartmoor for a walk and a pub lunch. More tranquil in the autumn and winter months, but still plenty to do - local shops; Arts Quarter; pubs, restaurants; live music events; Pavilions Community Arts centre. The seawall and the front beach are great for storm watching, and surfers. You may also spot a fox on the cliff embankment, dolphins out at sea, and a bird of prey high above the cliff near the TEIGNMOUTH sign. Two car parks 2-3 minutes walk from my place. It can get busy so I now provide Free designated parking, a 3-minute drive (and a 5-minute straight walk back to my place) on the forecourt of a residential building. One of my favourite times of day: After the crowds have gone home (on a sunny day) looking out of my window, at the River Teign, with the lights of Shaldon Bridge on calm waters, and Venus rising in the night sky. Good for the heart. Kitchen provisions: tea, hot chocolate, 'real' and instant coffee, milk, marmite, local honey, jams, oats, homemade muesli; vinegars, olive oil, herbs, spices. And a Devon cream tea with scones from a local award winning bakery!
The back beach neighbourhood is unique. This is the River Teign beach area of Teignmouth, this small coastal town in Devon in the South West of England. There is a fishing community and a working quay close by and always something going. You will be in the heart of this friendly community. Festivals and events in throughout the year e.g. summer: Carnival week; regatta week; Ship Inn music August Bank Holidays and selected other dates. Winter includes Jazz festival November. At any time of the year the restaurants might be fully booked. During the winter months they may be open 3-4 days per week - if you want to eat in one of them book beforehand. Pubs serve pub food with no need to book e.g. the Ship Inn 2 doors down facing the river, with tables inside and outside; also the Crab Shack restaurant next door but one is popular, with tables inside and outside.

Luxurious and romantic, spacious holiday cottage in South Devon's rolling countryside. Excellent links to Exeter (15 miles) Dartmoor (8 miles) and the coast (4 miles) If you are looking for a quiet and romantic break, then really don’t look any further. If you’re looking for long country walks and great country pubs. We have them. Plus easy reach of the Dartmoor National Park, beautiful sandy beaches and Torquay marina.
Daisy Wheels has been converted from an old barn into a luxurious holiday cottage. The historical 'daisy wheels' have been preserved in the master bedroom and are Listed as Grade 2 with English Heritage. We have sensitively developed this barn into a spacious 1 bedroom cottage, complete with a fully fitted kitchen: integrated fridge (and freezer compartment), dishwasher, oven, microwave and a coffee machine with complimentary coffee capsules. The open plan kitchen/dining/sitting room has a woodburner with a first pack of complimentary logs and kindling for you to enjoy a cosy evening in. Don’t worry if you run out as you can purchase an extra bundle of logs from us for £3. Upstairs, the bespoke staircase rises to the huge master en suite bedroom with our humongous copper bath. Be patient when filling the bath, as it is so big- it can take 15 mins to fill! Whilst waiting, the Super King sized four poster is a perfect spot to sit and enjoy the country views. We have a dressing table, with hair drier and some fantastic bed side tables, which we made from some milk churns. The en suite shower room has a larger walk in shower with a 12 inch shower head and of course a copper basin which was once a jam making pot in France, before we adapted it be used as a basin. The house which dates back to the late 13th Century sits within just over 2 acres of private grounds, which our guests are more than welcome to walk over and enjoy the paddocks, cider orchard and rocky outcrops. The view from the top of the hill is fantastic.
We live in a very peaceful and quite rural hamlet in South Devon, yet with easy access to the road networks. Two very good pubs are within walking distances, The Royal Oak in 0.9 miles and The Elizabethan in 1.8 miles. There are plenty of enjoyable walks in the area, our favourite being along a stream, through the woodland to The Elizabethan pub.

Ipplepen conservative club welcomes all visitors and members, there is sky sports, discos, and other entertainment that are a regular feature Just a short drive out side of the village is the Two mile oak with a wide range of ales, restaurant and a very pleasant little garden. The Church house Inn dates back to the 13th century, full of old world charm and steeped in history. Nestled in the valley of Torbryan and about a mile into the country lanes. It is the prettiest little picture postcard hamlet. Many local people love the Church House Inn and will make you feel very welcome. There is restaurant and bar and also a few ghosts. There are several other pubs and Inns with in a mile or two of ipplepen and include the Copper Dollar, the Monks Retreat, the Union Inn, the Court Farm Inn, the Tally Ho, and the Pig & Whistle, all of which have a restaurants. While you are here I will be happy to help you with directions. Ipplepen is the pivotal point to start exploring the endless wonderful places to visit in south Devon. Turning right onto the A381 and drive just for 5.5 miles and you will reach the historic market town of Totnes. Built by the river Dart the town has one long narrow main street that seems to go up hill for ever, but don't worry there are many twee little shops to look in and interesting places to eat or have a coffee on your way up the hill. When you finally reach the top there is a fortress and from there you can enjoy the beautiful views across the town and surrounding country side. Totnes is bohemian and some say it is the centre of the universe. It has arts and culture and an odd kind of magic that gets under your skin. If you visit Totnes you will never forget. Turning left onto the A381 and 3.7 miles you will reach Newton Abbot market is town built over the river Lemon. A good place for general shops, restaurants and take-aways. Bakers park is on the outskirts of Newton Abbot, It has a large children's play area and several football pitches, it also has walks along the river lemon and is surrounded by Beech woodlands .very nice for a picnic. The English Riviera offers stunning coastal walks, seaside towns, fishing villages, estuaries and golden sandy beaches. There are so many places to see that I would need to write a book to tell you about them all. Locally I would recommend Shaldon, Dawlish and Dartmouth for their picturesque beauty and Torquay, Paignton, Broad-sands and Goodrington for sandy beaches for families with children. Turning your back to the coast and look inland and you will see the gently rolling landscape of Dartmoor, two hundred square miles of hills and valleys, Leets and rivers, open moorland, woodland and garnet tors. This magical place will lift your spirits and calm your sole. This is a place to escape humanity for a little while. Again one would have to write a book to tell you of its nature and wonders. Dartmoor is a place off fairy tales, myths and legends. If you would like to walk on the wild side I will guide and advise you on the best places to go. There are many safe places to enjoy and visit on Dartmoor but hill walking and climbing the tors need wisdom and orienteering skills There are many parks and places of interest to visit and enjoy for all ages and abilities . I have many pamphlets of interest ready for you to look through. For the young visitor there are beer and music festivals and Torquay has several night clubs. For every one there is the Dartmouth steam railway, family fun parks and Paignton Zoo is just fabulous, Plymouth Seahorse aquarium is another family attraction and really worth a visit. There really is something for everyone no matter what your age or interest.
