Built inside a 1929 mansion that presumably once was financed by Al Capone, the restaurant serves a menu of traditional gourmet dishes including Brie en Croute, Blackened Salmon Oscar and Black Thai Duck. The mansion that houses the restaurant was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997 and still features the original escape hatches and underground tunnels that were used by Capone to transfer liquor during the Prohibition Era. In 2001, High Point received the "Best Gourmet Meal in Tennessee" award from "Tennessee" magazine.

Beautiful spot for swimming, hiking, or just sitting on the grass by the water. Great for families! Small “beach” area on one end of the lake. Trail goes all the way around the lake. Fenced dog park nearby!

The signature Perimeter Trail is a 20-mile loop that offers gorgeous views and excellent opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, and running atop the bluffs of the Cumberland Plateau. The trail can be accessed within a five-minute walk from central campus. Hikers will pass beautiful overlooks, geologic features, lakes and ponds, and loads of upland deciduous forest.

The Passing Hello
“The Passing Hello" is a tradition in which Sewanee students, faculty and residents greet one another on the street, even if they are complete strangers. [...] As we wandered from the science building to the chapel to the cafeteria, sure enough, almost everyone greeted us with the courtesy of a smile, a hello, a wave, an acknowledgment: You are here; I see you. It was lovely, simple and civil.
