The Blue Ridge Parkway-- federal park land and oldest mountains in the world! You can’t really go wrong anywhere along the parkway, whether to drive and watch the sunset or set out to hike and find a swimming hole. The farther south you go, the higher the elevations get (that’s why the French Broad River-3rd oldest river in the world!- runs South to North). Do a search for swimming holes online to find one that looks like it’s your style (distance, size, crowded or secluded, etc.). Quick note: in winter some sections of the parkway are closed off for safety.

Rivers--The French Broad is just down the mountain (1 mile) and there are several tubing and kayak/paddleboard/etc rental places right there, including River Link/FB Outfitters, Zen Tubing, and Sky Tubing.
There are also several other rivers within 40-90 minute range that you can check out if you want more rapids or different scenery. The Green River is gorgeous.

Richmond Hill Park--It’s 0.9 miles from the house. It has a lot of walking and biking trails, and an extensive disc golf course.
