This Virginia National Park location is about a 20 minutes drive from the Campground. Perfect trip with lots of stops for food or supplies in between. Requires a pass to enter. (We share ours, please return to the clip on the refrigerator.) No pets allowed, can take or rent bikes to take advantage of the nature's reserve and a private beach. Otherwise a nice drive past the famous ponies (stop to take pics) to the Atlantic Ocean!

This Berlin Maryland part of the shoreline for Assateague Island National Seashore offers a more close and personal access to the famous Ponies, who roam around freely on site. Beach access is also available for swimming , fishing and relaxing. A pass is required for this Park as well. You may also bring your pet and enjoy the many trails and docs available for walking. Overnight camping or RVing on this Md. part of the Park is available with online reservations beforehand. It is lovely to spend a quiet night on the beach and listen to the ocean.
