This is the river that runs through the neighborhood. If you're into fly fishing, this is a stocked stretch that is artificial flies only but it is a great spot to catch some nice brown, rainbow, and brook trout.

App Ski Mountain is another ski resort near the cottage. While it's smaller, it is a really good place to take beginners because of the wide slopes and more beginner-friendly runs.

Beech is the farthest ski resort from the cottage, but worth it in our opinion. There's a full bar on the top of the mountain so you can take in the views while having a drink, and they are our favorite NC ski mountain because of the variety they offer. It's an easy drive through banner elk (about 25 minutes), but worth it in our opinion!

Sit back and relax with the views of rolling hills covered in a variety of grape species while enjoying a glass (or 3) of Linville Falls Wine. The sunsets here are truly spectacular!

They have a surprising amount of toppings/ additions for the omelettes and french toast, and even offer french toast donuts (a favorite of ours). Friendly staff and fair prices make this a great option.

When we were remodeling the cottage we must have eaten here 3 or 4 times in one month. They have a lot of options but one of our favorites was their bbq chicken, and their mac & cheese is a must-have!

Another awesome option for grabbing a delicious glass/ bottle of wine and enjoying the scenery. Both this winery and the Linville Falls Winery are great, but it seems like no one can agree on which one is their favorite. If you try both, let us know!
